HTML 5 + Spacing - Post ID 200676
Hello CoffeeCup community. I am still learning HTML and purchased the guidebook from CoffeeCup, however there is spacing in HTML that I do not understand. When you write code to start a page, there are several "tab" spaces in front of the code, aligning the whole page of code in different areas. Can someone explain these spaces and what they mean please? I am used to using VSD, or copy/pasting code into already coded areas. I want to learn from scratch. Thank you!! - Matt.

It's just to make the code more readable. If you look at the beginning tag for each element the ending one will usually be below it at the same tab distance from the left side making it easier to find for editing. If all the code was mashed to the left it would be very hard to figure out.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hey there Eric!! Is there some sort of method to this madness? Do I just tab to the right once, then twice, every 3 lines? I'm not sure cause the code doesn't show up on my HTML without the spaces on it.

Take a look at the small example I attached.
The top of the example is easy to pick out the different div's and the bottom not so easy.

I think of it as an Outline of a paper.
You have the main topic which is HTML. Then you have the body which is inside the HTML. And a Div inside the body, and a link within the div and an img within the link.

Cool thanks guys i'll have a look!

Hey Eric, I took a look at the coding that you have provided, i'm talking about the actual spacing in between, is it like ( One Tab ) = Then Start Coding, then (Two Tabs) = Then Start coding? I'm looking at the actual spacing. I'll do a video and post what i'm talking about in a few minutes here. Thanks for the help btw guys it's awesome having people around to help!
