Hello,
I posted this to the 'feature request' section, but I see folks have been asking for this feature since 2009, so it seems like it should have it's own fresh post :-)

As a new CC user, I would love to see a Collapse Code feature, as exists in many other code editors. Writing a long page with either a long DIV or TABLE, it would be great to be able to collapse 100 lines of code so I can see what I'm doing. Is there any consideration of this idea for future build? I can show examples in other software if I am unclear on the feature.

This important tool goes WAY back to some of the earliest HTML editors and I was surprised to see it missing in CC HTML editor. (I've been coding since Netscape Navigator, and code collapse was around then)

Thanks!
VL

Hi Victor,
That would be a great feature. I have some blocks of code that are quite large that would be nice to collapse to take up less room.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Interestingly Site Designer already has the feature for its Edit Code boxes, but I haven't found anything in the Site Designer Guide about it. Lines with opening tags have a dot next to the line number, and clicking on that dot toggles the fold/collapse on and off. I find that more useful than the Fold All and Unfold All in the right click menu.

Perhaps therefore CoffeeCup could adapt that coding for The HTML Editor.

Going all the way back to Sausage Software's HotDogPro (which I miss dearly), collapse was so valuable. Either select the line numbers, or drag and highlight a section, right click and collapse. I don't use Site Designer, since I prefer old school hand coding, but as Frank mentioned above, if it's already part of that tool, why not just bring the feature over to HTML editor.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
