Is there a way to use a local file such as a quicktime .mov or .mp4 file in the video element? as compared to using a streaming video from YouTube, Vimeo, etc...

Thanks,
Jeff

No, you would need to use the HTML element there and write your custom markup for the video. I would not recommend it though Jeff. Those video formats are not universal, and not all browsers can play them natively. On some Windows installations, you even need Quicktime installed as well to play them. You can also run into all sorts of codec problems as if the videos are not properly encoded.

Stick with Youtube or Vimeo so that it is guaranteed that your videos always appear.

My .3 cents anyways. ;)

Thanks for the info! I agree and will probably move the content to vimeo or YT. I'm in the process of reworking an old site and it has a dozen or so videos that were locally hosted. Time to move on though!
