Latest version scrambling up images!

Hi,

The most recent version of Direct FTP (6.9.2003, released 8/23/12) is uploading images in such a way that images are scrambled and pixellated (or the browser will give an error that the images are corrupted) when viewing/embedding them on your Web site.

The previous version did not have this problem.

Thank you, Dan

Did you upload the image as ASCII, BINARY or Auto? If ASCII, that would be correct. Try BINARY.

I was in Auto.
Binary fixed it. Thanks Scott.:)
What's the difference?

Auto tries to detect what type of file you are uploading and transfers it accordingly. If that fails, it reverts to ASCII and treats the file like it is text based.

So Binary should be fine for everything I do? Why do I need to change it on this version?

You shouldn't have any problems using binary for everything. Give it a try and see how it works out. I am looking into why the "auto" mode may have not worked for you right now.

I mentioned that in another post. I found problems with uploading php scripts and a few other files. I have taken the view that Binary is the way to go until something else rears its head.

Exceptions would be text files, such as .htaccess and robots.txt, which are best uploaded as ascii.

I want my auto back. I mess with .htaccess on a regular basis. I have never had to manually switch it before.:(
