Is it possible to read a saved password? It is in the registry but not readable. Can it be exported and converted, change a setting in the GUI or some other way made readable?

Did you forget the password to your server?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Are you talking about within the program Direct FTP? If you have your servers already saved in there you can click the box in the account settings for that server to have it show you the password. If you mean something else you'll need to be a little clearer on exactly what you're trying to do.

Sorry for the confusion. Let me clarify what I'm doing. I want to upgrade to the latest DirectFTP but my old copy will not import direct, so I must manually re-enter all the data. The problem is many of the old server login passwords I don't remember what they are and they only show up as stars in the GUI and registry. I need to be able to read the passwords so I know what to enter in the new version.

Did you check what I mentioned to see if you can click the check box for each of the accounts to show the passwords? I don't know how old your version is, but it's been there for quite a few years that you can tell it to show them.

Just open the FTP Account manager, click one of your accounts to see the setup and you should see the box right after the password box to allow you to see the passwords.

I looked and there is no box to check as an option for making the passwords readable. Thanks anyway.

What version are you on just out of curiosity? You must be on an extremely old version. Check your File menu and see if there's possibly an export situation. Other than that, I would suggest:

Open a support ticket with the CC team support.
Tell them what your issue is along with:
Operating System version, DFTP Version

Ask them where that information file might be kept and if it will even be compatible with the current version if your version is that old.

Good luck Luther and let us know what you end up doing :)
