Thanks for that Gunsmoke. Not sure if this is helpful for others, but CoffeeCup 6.9 installed without issue on another machine that had no previous installation of direct ftp 6.2. Removing CoffeeCup 6.2 via the add/remove programs in Windows 7 seems to leave behind files or registry entries that interfere with the installation of 6.9. So my Error 1316 was a problem with the installer, but not the installer itself, but remnants of the previous coffeecup direct ftp install.

Like Gunsmoke, I always download to my desktop then let the new version run the uninstall on the old one. No problems.

If you have CCleaner, run it before doing anything else to clean up lingering junk files.
Do you have the latest Java update installed?
Have you tried turning off your firewall and other ant-virus stuff before you download and install?
