Hi all.

I've installed a new hard drive and can't work out how to transfer the existing server fies to my new hard drive.

I can't see where they are saved.

Any help appreciated.

I believe that Direct FTP stores the server information in the registry.

If you still have the old hard drive, just boot from it and run Direct FTP then copy the information.

If you have too many servers to copy the information by hand, you should open a service ticket with CoffeeCup to get help from their technicians.

This is a weird one but you can find the settings encrypted in the file listed below. Simply copy the file and replace it if it exists already on your new drive.

"C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SharedSettings.ccs"

This is the path in Vista, I am not sure where it is in XP (possibly local settings\application data) but I'm sure you will find it using a file search with advanced options enabled.

I have this problem at the moment since I just did a clean install of Windows 7 and forgot to backup my server data. :/ There is a way to copy it from the backup -- I've done it before -- but I can't recall it so I came here to see if anyone knew. As I recall it was quite simple.

We've had a very long discussion on this actually in another thread here which should hopefully answer your question :)

Here is the info I got before:

Your profiles are stored in the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CoffeeCup Software\Internet\Profiles

(Start > Run > REGEDIT > Enter > Browse to that key > Left click on it to highlight it > Registry > Export > Save to a location)

You can export this registry key, then import it into the other Computer it should transfer your profiles.

Make sure that Direct FTP is closed when you do this.

That worked when I went to Vista. It did NOT work in Windows 7. I don't even suggest the average user try to find regedit in Window 7.

c:\Documents and Settings\{username}\AppData\Roaming and the file you want is SharedSettings.css

This worked for me. It was the path in Vista and it was the path in Windows7.

Thanks folks.

as per the link I gave for the other thread you'll see that the file is not .css it's .ccs :P Just wanted to clarify that since it's what caused a bunch of us not to be able to find it lol

Sorry. I didn't even notice the difference. Had I noticed I would have assumed a typo, particularly as it was in the right place and I checked it out on other computers.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
