DirectFTP recognizes my user name and password. It signs me in but cannot access the remote directory.
A pop-up box says Access denied: 530

I would make sure your trying to access a directory at or above the root of your site.
/public_html or public_html or /public_html/
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.
