VSD won't save - Post ID 8691

My website (not uploaded yet) previously saved opens without any problems but suddenly now it won't save. Even when nothing has been changed it won't save. A pop-up box with a red circle and a white X in it says "The changes could not be saved" with an OK button. Click the OK button and I get my "save as" screen but when I hit save it goes back to the same pop-up. If I X out of the "save as" screen it comes up with a similar pop-up that says "Homepage could not be saved" To close the site I have to hit "no" when asked if I want to save changes. I can bring the site back OK and preview the site in my browser....whats up with that??? HELP !!!!

Hi Chris,

Sounds like a bummer, I'm not sure what happened, but it almost sounds like maybe another program has the files your using in VSD opened. You may have already done this, but have you tried closing all other programs and rebooting the system?

Yes, I closed all and rebooted. Something else happened about the same time. Lost all sound on my computer. Sound card seems to be missing. Weird huh?

Hi again Chris,

It sounds like in addition you may be having some trouble with your drivers. Have you added any programs recently or made changes to your system? I might be going off on the wrong tanget here, but have you tried other programs to see if same/strange things are happening?

You might try re-installing/upgrading to current version of VSD.

Thanks Rod............turns out that my flash drive was full, thats why it wouldn't save. Still can't figure out what happened to my sound card thou. Can I go to install/uninstall programs and uninstall my sound card and then re-install it? Or do I need my original recovery disc....I do have it.

I have the same problem - Yesterday I made several changes to my website and periodically saved the changes every few minutes. All of the sudden, nothing more will "save". I get the "changes cannot be saved" pop-up box, followed by the "save as" screen, which won't let me save either. I CAN upload the website with the changes.

My flash drive is not full, and I cannot save to it. I have tried saving under a new name and that doesn't work either. I am not inclined to reboot the computer, as I haven't saved the changes.

Any advise out there

I'm having a heck of a time with the VSD right now as others...it's really buggy and the mouseovers stay sticky. I have to replace my .jpg with the correct files every time I save for those mouseovers which show a compeletly different jpg. The previews for the Photo gallery and Calendar arent displaying after I do updates. if I do a save as, not all the files are getting saved, especially the .swf and .xml files. I've spent probably 6 hours figuring out how to workaround all this and I'm now getting Save As problems where it won't even save the homepage. Disturbing and frustrating.

Hiya Bradley,

Hence why Scott above, mentioned that people need to contact Support and they have ways to help you fix these issues. Good luck with it, but Support is where you need to be for this problem so they can help you rather than the forums :)
