This site is strictly designed in VSD but I just noticed that this page renders and validates differently between Seamonkey and Internet Explorer:

It validates fine in SM but not Internet Explorer.

I believe the expression is WTF... SeaMonkey is a Mozilla backed company, and frankly, I have never seen this Browser used on my sites... Is there a reason you want it to validate for SeaMonkey?

I didn't realize that they still updated SeaMonkey, or that anyone ever really installed it

As for IE... It really depends on which version you're talking about. MS has never felt the need to play nice with others, and feels that they can re-write the rules and standards of the web. IE 9 was the first browser to really come close to rendering sites 'about' the same as other browsers.

What's all this about "validating" for this browser or that browser...??
To me, "validation" refers to compliance with the W3C code specification and is independent of browser...
What am I missing here???

That's what I was wondering. Maybe it's more what works in which browser. I figure if it doesn't work in IE then it's probably correct.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yeah, typo. LOL

I like Seamonkey, sue me. :D

It's just another Mozilla browser like Firefox. But you missed the point. It DOES validate from Seamonkey but NOT from Internet Explorer.

No need for browser elitism/snobbery, people. Come on.

And Netscape did create the standards, after all?

From a browser, is what I meant. If I'm viewing it from Seamonkey and click the W3C button at the bottom, it does validate, but If I'm viewing it from Internet Explorer, and click the W3C button at the bottom, it does not validate.

Wasn't aiming towards that ;)

And as far as creating the standards... None of the browsers have been in strict adherence, but some have been FAR better than others. W3C sets the standards, and we as users SHOULD expect ANY browser that we fire up, to display a page, just the same as any other browser (that's why they're called STANDARDS after all)...

You still didn't indicate which version of IE you are trying to "synch" with Seamonkey.

Well now, that's interesting! Seems to me it shouldn't matter which browser the code is sent from for validation. Does that mean your version of IE is somehow changing the code before sending it to W3C...??

Did some more testing and from here, your page validates regardless of where I send the request from:
CC HTML Editor: Validates OK
Chrome 16: Validates OK
IE9: Validates OK

So, what version of IE are you using that leads to the code not validating? (IE6...?? - or maybe IE10 Beta...??)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
