VSD - How do I get help/support -...
I've not been able to use CSD since I moved to Vista. I've downloaded the latest versions, uninstalled and reinstalled it three times, left phone messages on the support desk and sent at least two online trouble tickets and can't get any responses. The error message is that "Visual Site Designer Application has stopped working" and "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
On my wife's XP machine we're having problems uploading changes to our site. we've double checked all the FTP settings and use the username and account information that get us into the site manually, but the upload fails every time with VSD.
Any suggestions or help will be very much appreciated.

Log into the CC support center and read the response there. I get email from every site I visit except CC. And my spam is disabled.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!
CC may suggest this, but you want to run vsd as administrator in vista(vista is stinky in this way). That solved the problem for me. When I have had problems with ftp and vsd, I usually find that I had something wrong in my ftp settings or my firewall has blocked VSD.
MISTAKES I have made with ftp and VSD in the past:
I entered ftp://address_to_ftp instead of just address_to_ftp.
I uploaded to the wrong directory on my server.
I entered in the password with CAPS on or the wrong password.
Coffeecup has done well for me in the past when having issues and they will be able to help you.

jcstillings, I'm assuming the issue you're facing in Vista is the one mentioned in the threads numerous times. VSD crashes when it loads when Vista's UAC (User Account Control) is enabled. You can either disable UAC or right-click on the shortcut for VSD and choose Run As Administrator. Even if your account has Administrator level, you still have to "run as administrator." Personally, UAC drives me crazy with the nags to allow things, so I disable it anyway. Funny thing, if I type "disable" in Google, it's #1 guess as to what I'm searching is "disable UAC". Figures.
Here's multiple methods as to how to disable UAC:

I disabled "UAC" AND IT STILL SHOWS UP WITH ERROR MESSAGE...I ALSO TRIED TO TURN DEP MODE OFF FOR VSD PROGRAM AND DID NOT WORK...HELP...
Martha, you may want to contact CoffeeCup directly (Contact Us link on top menu of this page) if you don't get help from other users here.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
