I think that I've resolved most IE and Firefox issues.

The iphone thing has caught me by surprise. People with iphone report that the text overlaps or gets garbled. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, Visual Site Designer cannot create pages that adjust to fill the browser screen (liquid layouts).

You can enter a custom width/height setting to fill more of the screen, but keep in mind that anyone whose screen is smaller than your defined size will get a scrollbar (horizontal and/or vertical depending on what isn't viewable). You can center the design within the browser window so that any extra space is filled with the background color/image using the Page Window.

Take a look at the following topic. There is a lot of discussion on creating an iPhone compatible site by CoffeeCup users. Their tips may be able to help as well.

Here in CoffeeCup forums, go to this discussion --

For serious sources, look for second message from ad99wd, which has links to sites about web-for-mobiles.

Then for a lightweight solution, in that discussion look for one of my messages further down in which I describe a simple approach that is mainly for iPhone and higher-res Blackberries but OK for computer. That simple website is at www.financialpicture.net.

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like a can of worms.

I know almost nothing about iphone, but it's incomprehensible to me that a new technology would not seek compatability with current standards.

Sorry about that, iphone users.:(

I do not have an iPhone but my wife does and I have been amazed at just how well it works with websites that were not designed for the iPhone - regular websites. It runs a variant of the Safari browser and typically renders text and images as expected.

Unfortunately, it will not do Flash but that is the only significant limitation I would point to where the iPhone's browser is concerned. Otherwise it's just an in/out pinch to zoom (multi-touch) and left/right/up/down flicks to move around. To be honest, I actually prefer websites on the iPhone that were not designed for the iPhone - regular websites work great.
