VSD changing linked file names on...

I have a link on a page to open a PDF file (www.chasmthebook.com/download) The link I'm talking about is at the bottom of the page, it's called "download Fateens Gift"

There is a PDF file in the download folder called "FatensGift.pdf". Here's a screen grab of when I'm trying to create the link:

https://www.onlinefilefolder.com/2s4r8pjbAQAWoz

As you can see, I used the "Browse" command to attach the file to the link, so I didn't mistype the name.

If you look at the link on the bottom of the actual website, VSD generated HTML to download "FatensGift0.pdf"

Any ideas? I can always add another copy of the PDF into the download directory with the name that VSD is looking for, but I'd rather have the program working properly.

You should be linking this to a URL. Not a document. Upload the File and add the link to the page.

Thanks, I will try that. But how come it works for the other document on the same page, and how come it worked on an earlier version of the website?

I just checked the site and the link at the bottom that goes to Fateens Gift is working properly... Maybe try clearing your cache?

Would it help if they were spelled the same?
One is "Faten" and the other is "Fateen".

The file linked to is spelled the same was as the link. You can see that in the linked image I included in the first post.

Either way, VSD is adding a '0' to the end of the name. I just put a copy of the file with a "0" on the end in the directory. This stuff isn't going to drive me nuts anymore. It's not like this is a website done for hire, as long as it works, I'm happy.

Thanks for taking the time to answer

I have found the same thing happening. I have corrected the problem by re doing the link but on some sites I have just renamed the pdf in my filemanager. I think it a bug but I shall wait till the next upgrade. I think i did mention it some time ago but had no response. Not a Biggie now I am aware of it and I check the link. Only happens sometimes.

Gentle recommendation from this CC HTML Editor bigot: Knowing and accommodating the vagaries of one browser or another is bad enough trouble. Why add the problem of having to know and accommodate VSD's peculiar behaviors? Please consider moving to the HTML Editor, where what you type into the HTML page is exactly what the browser renders. It's worth the learning-time investment, IMHO.

Yes, I looked just like that in 1962.

Hmmm. The same thing has started happening to me also. Except, VSD is only changing some, but not all of the links to a specific PDF file. It is adding a "0" at the end. So now some of the links refer to the "classcal.pdf" and some refer to "classcal0.pdf". I have gone into VSD and recreated the link, put it still adds the 0 upon uploading. Opening the file in HTML editor verfies that the 0 is added on my local computer also.

http://rascal.cc/index.html - check the calendar/classes links

http://rascal.cc/classreg.html - check the calendar/classes links in the body

I've not done anything to change the links on the classreg page. VSD changed them on its own.

This site is chocked full of pdf files. I hope this does not become more of an issue.

Any suggestions on correcting the problem?

Thanks,
Galen

One thing I would definitely suggest is that you guys report this to CC rather than just here on the forums. Although the staff of CC does peruse the forums, it's not guaranteed that they will see every post that is attempting to report a bug. Always best to put in a support topic to make sure they get the information and can confirm the bug or help you work out what's possibly wrong on your end. Good luck on it. :)
