VSD / PayPal Standard / Affiliate...
Hi All,
I’m hoping someone may have some advice for us . . .
Our VSD Website currently processes customer payments directly through PayPal Standard with a “Thank You Page” redirect back to our Site following payment processing. We have a very simple product line and haven’t felt the need to introduce a shopping cart.
We’re interested in joining some affiliate marketing programs (at this point, shareasale.com specifically), but we’re having some trouble implementing the affiliate tracking code required to join the program.
We’ve turned on the Payment Data Transfer option within our PayPal account, and provided PayPal with the url redirect to our “Thank You Page.” We also have our PayPal “Identity Token”.
PayPal provides some code samples in a number of programming languages for the code that must be implemented into our “Thank You Page” in order for the Payment Data Transfer info to work. Shareasale.com has also given us a snippet of code to implement into the PayPal code, so that affiliates who send us business can be properly credited for a sale.
echo("<img src=\"https://shareasale.com/sale.cfm?amount=$amount&tracking=$tx_token&transtype=SALE&merchantID=xxxxx\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\">");
The PayPal code samples available are:
(1) asp.net
(2) ColdFusion
(3) Perl
(4) PHP 5.3
(5) Vb.net
https://www.x.com/developers/PayPal/doc … ple/216627
Generally, we simply paste widget/form codes into the html tool within VSD and everything has always worked great. Unfortunately, we have had no success implementing this PayPal code in any language through the VSD html tool. When we try, the entire code shows up as text on the website page.
Neither PayPal nor shareasale.com has been very helpful is assisting us. They both seem to feel VSD may not be able to support the code necessary to join the affiliate program.
If anyone has any advice, we'd be grateful.
Many thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,
In order to implement this and control it, you may be better to use CC HTML Editor and then you will be in complete control of the code.
Make/design your site in VSD, save the work. Then implement the specific functionality you require by using CC HTML Editor. There you have complete control over what's in the complete tag set and you can introduce your required code manually.

Try placing the code in a plain page with the proper extension separate from VSD then add it to your site with the add files tool. Now place an iframe in your VSD page pointing to the page.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

David & Eric,
I appreciate you both trying to help. I'll look into these suggestions, but unfortunately, I fear they may be above my non-technical skill level!
Thanks,
Tim
