Hey all!

I just wanted to give a bit of a update concerning some of the Visual Site Designer issues you have seen reported here over the past few days. As with any major update, no matter how much you plan and test, unforeseen things can occur. While it make look like there are some massive problems with version 7, you need to take into account that about 500,000+ users were sent an e-mail about this update. Whenever you have that many people all downloading software at the same time and then reporting problems, it can give the impression there are major flaws.

Rest assured we are reading all forum posts and support tickets and addressing all issues as fast as we can. Even though we are closed for Thanksgiving, we are keeping a watchful eye on everything. I know it can be frustrating when you run into problems and it is equally as frustrating here too. ;)

Please be patient with us over the next few weeks and as we iron out the kinks. If you do run into problems, it would really help if you opened a support ticket instead of reporting it here just so we can make sure your specific problem is properly addressed.

With that, I now need to sleep. I had way too much turkey today. ;)

I've always felt CoffeeCup comes out with great stuff. I haven't upgraded yet and will probably wait a few weeks but wanted to let you know that you guys have our support. For the price, VSD is an excellent program. We appreciate all the work that you and the CoffeeCup engineers do.

If you have 500,000 copies out there and these are the few complaints that you have recieved, it can't be all that bad!

I for one think you guys do an awesome job at putting out good software that does what others don't.

Keep up the good work. And when your finished fixing VSD, how about fixing SCCP with a better way of setting up shipping!!:D:D

Hey Scott does that mean you don't want me to do both forum and support ticket like i did last night :P

I hope that explanation i left in s drive better thread ::Questions about publishing from VSD?

will help a few others if they get the text shifting problem when updating (my wrist duly slapped !)

I agree that so far there appear to be few posts about 'issues' considering how many people likely upgraded (500,00 were EMAILS sent out, not INSTALLS). However a few WERE troubling (like all the broken links) and I hope that all these are not taken offline as this one appears to have been.

I LOVE VSD and am sure I will eventually upgrade, but want to know what I'm getting into first. As with any software package, when released to the masses things always show up. I would MUCH rather have someone ELSE spend hours figuring them out rather than doing it myself. :P

So PLEASE post to the forum as well as submit a Support Ticket. If you had the problem, it is likely someone else will too!

I didn't think it was possible to improve VSD, as IMHO it's the best website design program there is and it certainly isn't crying out for any improvements. ;)
Just wanted to ask: Do I un-install old version before installing new (v7). I am assuming that the themes will still load up ok. I've bought quite a few extra themes and will save them all to a different folder before doing anything just to be safe.

Hiya Michael,

Yes uninstall the old version and then install the version 7. I believe if you go to your downloads section of the CC site and go to the Themes tab of that page, any themes you have purchased for VSD that may have been updated will show up there as an update available :)

I too love your software and support, but I have learned a very important lesson in that I will never run and get the new update until I see what all of the issues are. The shifting text is close to being a deal breaker with me and although others say it's no big deal - it is for someone who works on their websites frequently. I thought I had fixed the text and re-placed it where it should be. It looked fine after uploading this morning. When I came back this evening and added a new home page to my website (blackandblueumpirecamps.com) I noticed that the text on my STAFF page and the text on the very bottom of some of the pages had shifted again. Real bummer. I am afraid of what reverting back to v6 might do after correcting all of the file link error messages in v7.

Let me explain a bit on the text shifting. In version 6.06 and earlier, what you would see in VSD would not always be the same when viewed in different browsers. This was one of the largest user complaints we had. What we did in version 7 was to correct this issue so that what you see in VSD will be the same in all browser on all platforms. Because of this change, when you migrate your content may have shifted to correct for this problem.

I can understand that it is frustrating and it creates a bit of work, but the good news is once you do make all your tweaks, you will have a site that looks almost identical in all major browsers.

Hello-
Congrats on the new release. Unfortunately I have run into a little problem with the Photo Gallery. First of all, when clicking on the Photo Gallery Icon on the left toolbar as well as going through the “Tools” menu, a dialog box comes up asking me to download Photo Gallery (I already have it). I tried uninstalling and downloaded again, to no avail.
Also if I go to preview, the slideshow will not display at first. You can see the outline of the slideshow with the correct sizing. An ActiveX control block message appears; “To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options.“ > Allow blocked content.
But, once you “Allow Blocked Content” the slideshow shrinks about 70 pixels from the bottom and right. Is this due to the “text shifting”?
I’ve tried deleting and inserting it again…still the same.

I will try the whole process again...going through PixConverter>Photo Gallery>VSD to see if that helps.

Any suggestions..?

Thanks
Anthony..:)
