Uploading with VSD #2 - Post ID 204428
I've designed and uploaded quite a number of sites without too many problems. After a while away, I have been asked to do another website and have completed and have attempted to upload to the customer's nominated hosting account. I have login details to hand and have checked and rechecked that details are correct. Settings are the same for all my other sites and I am able to login to these without any problems. However, when I attempt to test the connection I get an error message "The current socket connection has been reset'. I have tried connecting via Filezilla and Core FTP also and cannot obtain a connection. So I'm now completely baffled and not really sure which way to go next. Currently I am sitting on the phone awaiting Crazy Domains to answer their technical support line.....been here over an hour already. Getting decidedly ragged with what has always been a very simple process. Any ideas as to what could be the problem? BTW I have never used Crazy Domains for hosting although everything seems much the same as the other I always used.
I dont know anything about Crazy Domains, but it does rather sound like a hosting issue
I have done, and am doing a few new sites for friends, i get them all now to open a CC account and buy a copy of VSD with its FREE hosting.
Its nice and easy to hand over when finished and relatively inexpensive, but more to the point it saves me ever wasting time on an issue like you are having.
Just a thought.

I would suggest you contact the host, I would think they will sort it out for you, after all it is in their interest. Also have a look at what they sent after you signed up, sometimes a host assigns a user number. In C panel you probably get a help file on how too.
I would agree that the S_Drive is a good option. So what Viv does makes a lot of sense. He sets up a site and makes sure the client has the means to update. Good one Viv. I think I would follow that approach.

That can't always be the answer though as many times people need to do the site upload for the clients also. That means they still have to work out how to get connected to the hosts.
Try changing the Passive setting and see if that works. If not then check with your host, most likely they have some special way to input the server remote side settings or something different than the other servers you are using. You should be able to get this information from the cpanel > Files > FTP or something similar setup and that will usually tell you exactly what you need to put into the boxes for FTP purposes, but if you don't have the cpanel ability, contact the hosting company and ask them.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
