I've got a host that allows add-on domains. The add-on domain files are located in a subdirectory off the main directory. I can add files to this location manually but can't do it with VSD. It seems as though VSD only allow me to go one directory deep in the WWW folder. Is this true? Is then the problem is with my provider I suppose.

I am trying to post to a subdirectory to a /public_html directory. ( /public_html/addondomain ) I've tested my connection in VSD and the log shows me logging in and when it tries to switch to the subdirectory it doesn't change path.

I'm using 2mhost.com.

Just last night I tried to connect to two other hosting companies I already had set up, and neither of them would connect. Leads me to think it's VSD, my connection, or just user error.

Will figure it out and post.

Kevin,

Do you currently have a firewall running? I had that problem and had to turn off the firewall to connect and upload, then turn firewall back on. I don't have that problem with DFTP.

I've uploaded from this location many times, as well as from another location many times. It's acting like there is a firewall, but nothing has changed. Frustrating. I may try DFTP but I really like the convenience of single program uploads, I'm well into my 5th web design and would love to keep them all bundled into VSD.

I've attached a screenshot of where the test hangs...

I upload to public_html/VSD and I noticed you had a period.dot between the names (vsd, txt) (vsd.test) try it without it.

have you tried passive mode?

I have tried passive mode. No change.

I have nothing to do with the use of vsd.test / vsd.txt. I've always assumed that that's VSD's test file to upload.

My real subdirectory does have a .com at the end. I was wondering if the dot was causing a problem. I may have to delete my add-on site and redo it so that it doesn't have the .com on it.

Ok, So it works with CC's free FTP, no problems.
I wonder what's going on?

Anyway, here's the site...

I think I'll use the free FTP from now on.

Pleased that you managed to get it to work.
I would like to recommend that rather than just resorting to using the Free FTP from now on, open a support ticket and let the guru's at CC have a good run at figuring this out for you (and others that may follow in your shoes). This, in my opinion, is where CC outshines any other software publisher that I've ever dealt with in the last 20+ years. They actually LISTEN to the users, and IMPROVE upon their software based on what their customers are saying.
