I am on my second web site with VSD and I started having problems this afternoon. It is no longer automatically putting the pics/docs in the folder before publishing. I've been doing that manually and it works fine for pics (in the file folder) but not when I tried the pdf docs.

I tried putting them in both the files folder and the main folder and linking to them , per advice I searched for and found in the forums, but neither way works. Any other ideas? The pdf files did upload to both the main and the files folders online.I can see them there.

I also noticed that it is very picky about names...so I made the names simple: one.pdf, two.pdf. Would that create a problem?

I did try to reinstall the software but it didn't change anything.
I did not have pdf files in the first web site I made. But I did have pics and it always placed them in the folder. Kinda a non-techie here. :(

Thanks for any ideas.

VSD should be putting the pdf's in your

folder
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yes, that worked on the couple I tried however now I am getting an error saying my S Drive settings have changed and it will no longer publish and crashes VSD. I used the free FTP to upload the pdfs to my download folder. Are the two issues related do ya think?

Thanks .

When attempting to either Choose a Publishing Destination or Publish within Visual Site Designer and the program crashes or fails to connect, this could mean your registry settings have become corrupted somehow. What we will need to do is clear out all your registry settings allowing the software to default back to the initial settings. Please note that after doing this you will have to add your FTP information again.

Download this file here at http://www.coffeecup.com/files/binaries/vsdfix.exe to complete this task.

Next, right-click your Visual Site Designer shortcut icon and select Run as Administrator. This should properly launch Visual Site Designer for you. If it does, great! You can continue to launch the program in this way, or you can go a step further and configure the shortcut to always run as administrator. Here's how:

1. Right-click the shortcut icon, and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Here, put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Next, put a check mark next to Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
5. Click OK.

Once the above is complete, follow these steps:

1. Go to Publish > CoffeeCup Account Settings and enter in your CoffeeCup account information

2. Go to Publish > Choose a Publishing Destination and select your S-Drive account

3. Click Publish
With any luck, everything should be back to normal.

Let me know how that goes! :D

Scott I can publish again. However, I tried to link to a pdf and it still isn't there.

Any ideas? I have an open support ticket.

Thanks,

Hi Pam,
Are you trying to look at the pdf file in preview? you can't only when it's uploaded, (just in case that is the problem).:)

If you select the PDF as a document VSD takes care of it, or it does for me. If you use a Http link then as Bruzer says it will only load online, provided the pdf is uploaded with the site. Add files should take care of it, Haven't tried that as it works as a document.

No, I am actually trying to Publish my pdfs. I am linking to the document. This started happening a few days ago and I tried reinstalling VSD. It wasn't even taking my images up. I am on a Windows 7 OS.

It just isn't uploading. I am going to try another web site on a Windows XP computer and another installation of VSD.

Very, very frustrating. It is definitely something wrong with VSD on my computer. I have a support ticket open. Hoping they can solve this for me. The web site is almost completed!

Tech support resolved my issue. This was a stupid error on my part...undoubtedly caused by working on my web site late at night. I restored a backup after a crash and VSD changes the folder saved to the last folder accessed so it was saving into the Backup folder.

Tech support simply saved my website to the Coffee Cup folder where it is supposed to be. Everything working perfectly now. Thanks CC. Sometimes it does take a phone call.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
