In the trial version of VSD, all I had to do to link a PDF was click 'Link' and select the file, and everything worked fine when previewed.

Now that I have purchased the full version of the software, this method no longer works, even when I create a new object with a fresh link to the file. When I preview, I get an 'Internet Explorer cannot display the web page' message every time, with both original links that used to work, and the new ones. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step?

Sounds like an issue with the file name of the PDF. Do you have spaces and other non alpha-numeric characters in the filename?

or try to link them to the sites file folder. There is a folder inside the site folder titled Downloads. .pdf links need to be linked here I've found to work on the internet. This involves placing the .pdf file in that folder and link from there or link the .pdf file from your desktop or other location, save the page, then link again from the Download folder. As Scott says, check the file name as well.

I really think this is a problem with the newest version of VSD. As I mentioned in an earlier post I am not able to preview any of the links I have to pdf files. The links work fine on the real site after publication, but never work in preview with IE9.

I did a test on one of my pdf files and renamed it to wlsetup.pdf to eliminate spaces, etc. Still get the same error message in preview. The attached pic shows the error.

Never had this in previous versions of VSD.

I am not too sure on that one, I will have to do some research. I would say just for now, you will have to ignore it. At leaset once it is uploaded, we know it works.

I too have that issue, pdf's not showing in proof - in FF4.
However, I'm not that concerned about the PDF's, I'm more interested in the rest of site and how it looks.
I know the PDF's will work once the final upload is done, I never had it fail me at that point, unless of course I messed something up.
I would make life better if I could blame CC for MY mistakes, and that they would fix them

There probably isn't anything we can do about that. What you should just do is upload it to your website in an offline location and use that as a demo of the website.

Access to PDF links do not work for the latest version of VSD because the pdf file linked does not upload to the site/files/download directory when using the publish function in VSD. If one manually uploads the required pdf file to this directory all works in all browsers. At least that is my experience for the latest version. In previous versions VSD publish feature put the files in the correct place on the host.

Agree with cayucostom, I'm having the same problem.
BUT, when I did a site re-sync the PDF links worked . . ???
