I was updating one of my websites this morning. I had to input all the FTP info again after upgrading my operating system. I have all the information correct but it's telling me that I'm not connected to the internet. Or that the connection is timing out (during a test). I am clearly connected to the internet so I don't know what's going on.

Try the following:

1. Locate the Visual Site Designer shortcut or .exe
2. Right click on it and go to properties.
3. Select run as Administrator and select always.

This should resolve these issues.

What version of windows are you using? Also when you ran the test connection did it succeed or fail?

***Edit sorry I re-read you original question and you answered that question. Hmmm. What about your antivirus? Just for the test try disabling it and connecting.

Using Windows 8 (Blah!). The test connection also fails.
