Ok, then the problem is a simple fix, you have uploaded the images... Yet you uploaded them to http://www.billhartmann.com/files/IMG_0.jpg your main site... But, the site you are referencing is http://www.simplesites.billhartmann.com/ which is a sub directory or http://www.billhartmann.com/ . All you need to do, is upload the image files into your sub directory folder and that should fix your problem. :D

I think SirAge is suggesting you have a subdomain :: simplesites and part of your website has been uploaded there, and the rest has been uploaded to the rute domain ::billhartmann.com

Trouble is this is a technical issue if you do not know about domains and subdomains

Try re uploading directly from the inbuilt FTP in VSD by leaving the directory blank, or public_html rather than public_html/simplesites

I will try and put my 2 cents in. Your sub domain appears to be http://www.simplesites.billhartmann.com/

Now what we believe is that you have uploaded your images to the wrong folder on your server

The browser is looking for this image http://www.simplesites.billhartmann.com … TREES2.gif

This is the folder as Viv said where your images are http://www.billhartmann.com/files/TREES2.gif Notice that they are not in your subdomain folder.

Think of the folders on your server as the same as on your computer. when you create a subdomain it is like creating a new folder on your computer, but when you refer to it on a server treat it as your main domain when uploading files. Make sure all images and files used are available in the subdomain folder.

If you paste the highlighted URL in a browser you will see an image you referenced, notice it is in your main domain.

This is what Viv was pointing out. One trick I use if an image does not display is, I right click on it and choose to display in a seperate tab the URL shows me where the browser is looking. You could also right click and view source only the other shows the mistake easier.

Hi All,
Many thanks for your patience. I have deleted all files in that domain and sub domain and uploaded to another domain and the site works fine. I have been using3ix and FTP Commander for 12 years now designing web sites in Notepad and lately Front Page. After many trials of various web design software I finally bought VSD. I am trying to get to grips with I but am finding it difficult at the moment, particularly when I add a new page and it does not load properly. However, onwards and upwards. I have never created a sub domain of any of my domains, I thought it would be quite simple to handle, but I think I will delete this one until I can deal with them. BTW. Is it possible to create a rectangular or square shape with rounded corners in VSD, or do I have to import a shape from Photoshop or similar? My grateful thanks again. :D

Bill, to create a rounded rectangle... Click the shape tool in the left menu. Click and drag on the page where you want your shape. You can use the fill tool to set the color. In the object properties box there are 3 settings at the top. Object width, height and in the last one under those you can type in an amount for the corner radius.
You can also add drop-shadows and other effects to your objects (and photos).

Ah..Thank you paintbrush. I am unable to look at any 'help' videos as I am working in 'safe' mode at the moment due to computer problems and I don't have access to the VSD 'help' pages either. So I am learning n the fly and from users of this board. :)

Bill, re subdomains :: your hosting company MAY be creating an automatic subdomain everytime you add a main domain to your hosting account as that is how an addon domain works

ie :: your main hosting account is yourdomain.com

you add anotherdomain.com

host creates anotherdomain.yourdomain.com (the . denotes it is a subdomain)

When you upload your site to anotherdomain.com it is actually published on anotherdomain.yourdomain.com

Just to confuse you :: BUT IGNORE IT :: no need to get confused
