Is this possible? - Post ID 166234
Alright I have a sports website that has over 200 pages currently. The website is nhstatus.com if you want to check it out. Basically my problem is that since the website is over 200 pages it takes a long time to save and upload (I upload via Filezilla). I only update about 10-20 of the pages at the time at the most with the rest of the pages being archived stories or old videos. So basically all that uploading time is a waste of time because most of the pages are already on there.
Is it possible to have two separate .vsd files and upload them to the same ftp. What I mean is, can I make one .vsd have all 150 of my old pages and upload that without the homepage with filezilla. Then I would have another .vsd that includes all the pages I need to update on a daily basis. That vsd would have only 10-30 pages I update including the homepage. That would significantly cut my upload time. So is this possible?

Somebody please say yes !..lol I am in the same boat.
If you're uploading from withing VSD, it only uploads changed or updated content. Since you already have the full site up there, I would just update and upload content from within VSD. It should be very quick if you're only updating 1-30 pages.
Justin, I'm going to say "sure you can" even though I've never done that.
You'll just make link(s) to your "old" pages just as if they were an external web site.
But, you'll want to put links on those pages to get people back to your updated VSD pages.
Hope this helps, makes sense.

I agree with Rod. Just remember that one of the sites will have to be a sub domain of the other. Besides keeping track of links it wouldn't be to hard to keep things straight especially if you start off building your site that way. If your doing it after you've already built the original then your going to have to change some links and depending on how many you have it may take a while to get them all caught up. The one down fall will be if people already bookmarked specific content on your site. You may want to place some redirects to accommodate this.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

And another thought, you probably shouldn't name new pages the same as any of the old pages.

I could see naming the pages the on both sites the same being useful under the right conditions. Since one site would be a sub domain there would actually never be a problem because the one site would always have a directory reference in the url. I think your right though naming the pages the same might confuse you when your doing some changes.
