Is it Possible to make changes to...
Hi,
I was just wondering if its possible to make a change to one page but have that change take place on every page. I added a page to my site in progress and now have to add that link to the other pages I have (17 or more) but was hoping there was a better or a quicker way of doing this. It basically a side menu with links to various pages in html, if that helps.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
John

John some of the programs have a Find and Replace function. I'm not sure if VSD has but worth a look as that might work for you. You would need to open each page up that you wanted the change in first and close any that you didn't want to change.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.
Sorry, no Find/Replace in VSD...
Darn.... I guess I'll have to do it the old fashion way LOL...One page at a time, but thanks alot for your replies tassietiger and Chuck.

i suppose you could use the find/replace in the HTML editor if the code change would not mess up the VSD files. Since it's menu text, it might be ok as long as no real page changes are happining.. make a back up first..
The HTML editor will do find/replace in folders, or you could use notepad++

John, When you want to add a page in VSD check the duplicate box and use a page to duplicate that has the menu items on it. Then when you have your new page, click off the page to un-select everything and then delete the items you don't want and put in the new items that you want. Save. The menu buttons will automatically connect to the other pages.
Yes, I know how to dup pages,, the discussion was about using find/replace to fix menus on existing pages without editing each page
Sorry, at 3 o'clock in the morning I thought John was asking if one could link the new page to existing pages, instead he was speaking about linking the existing pages to the new page. I guess I'm right there, John? Since there is no find/replace in VSD, at least in the current version, the only choice then is to link to the new page from each of the existing pages. Sorry for misunderstanding.
no big deal,, i was thinking if there were no link changes that the text could be changed with find/replace.
but I haven't played with it enough to know for sure. The text could effect the length attribute of the object

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
