Building a new business website.
After uploading the site, I look it up on my web browser on the PC that the site was created on and everything appears just the way it was designed.
When I open the same site on my laptop, a line of secondary copy is showing as a completely different typeface, Helvetica Black Italic is being substituted by Times Roman Italic.
Both machines are running Windows XP and Google, the only real difference in the two is that the laptop is running Windows 7.
Suggestions?
Thanks. - Boyd

Could it be that the Helvetica font is not installed on your laptop?

I am assuming you built your page on the XP PC which has the Helvetica Black Italic font installed, this font is not installed on Windows 7 and therefore it will be substituted with web safe font, or, by the next specified font in your .css file if you have used one.

If you use a font that is not installed on your site visitors pc then it will be substituted for a basic font.
Coffeecup has a programme called Website Font but it is mainly for Heading Tags and such.

Check this page to an explanation on Web safe Fonts:-

It wasn't installed on my computer when I had XP on it. I'm on windows 7 now and it's not on here either.

As all of you probably know, if you install certain programs they install some of their own fonts (Microsoft Publisher comes to mind) so you may have a program installed on the XP unit that you do not have installed on the Win7 unit.
