Ever since I bought this program, It as me questioning my ability as a designer. When I think my work is going on good, something similar to a virus happens. "WISIWING" WHAT I SEE IS WHAT I'M NOT GETTING. I have gone through the forum looking for answers and found no solution to my problem, I see few people with similar issues, but their resolution do not work for me. I'm gonna try this one more time and see if anyone understand what is going on here in the VSD world:

I'm using VSD to create this website here http://www.lawrence-heights.ca/ and i have been working on this site as my portfolio for the past two weeks now with little miner problem here and there. I have a job interview today and I was hoping to show off this website and now I'm f*cked. I need someone to take a look at it and tell me, why is it not looking beautiful anymore. Thanks!

Here's another page on the website to look at http://www.lawrence-heights.ca/protechresume.html for some reason the text Toronto at the top of the page looks like its doubling up, and other text on the page seem to be out of place. :(
What you see is what you get.

I am not sure what you are seeing but it looks fine to me under IE 7. Toronto does look like you have used one of the Effects that is causing the 'doubling up'. Check you text effects.

Good luck on your interview.....

Hiya Tuksedo,

To be honest I don't see anything "wrong" with the page of the first link, but it's so very busy and full of so many things that I wouldn't know. It's very very cluttered, I 'm not sure if that was your intention to try to fit so many things on one page, but I'd suggest moving some of those things to their own pages or something so it's not such a long drawn out page. Just my opionion, but it's overwhelmingly full of things to me. Other than that I'm not sure what you mean by it being not pretty anymore, need more specific information of what you think is wrong with it since everyone's styles are different, we may think something is wrong that you don't, and visa versa.

I don't know a lot about VSD, but it looks to me as if you have doubled your Toronto title. Check to be sure that you didn't accidently copy and paste and maybe create a second one over the top of the other one? Not sure on that sorry,

As for the rest, the only things I see out of place is the titles on the center button/bars which to me look like you just didn't set them up correctly. Too big and long to fit on such a small image background. Try resizing the text and making the words on 1 single line or at least small enough to fit the image they are sitting on.

Your question is way too vague. What do you mean by "beautiful"? If you could be specific regarding your problems, there are great sources here who can help.

The Toronto image is doubled on the page in your second link. There's IMG_129 that includes the entire head section and IMG_116 that includes Toronto, part of the skyline and a few buttons. I'd get rid of those junk files and insert your original file (don't copy/paste it from another page). Is resume spelled reszume on purpose? (see also photogrqaphy instead of photography)

On that same page I'm seeing the text overlapping other stuff and most of the images are doubled (is it OK to use those Coffee Cup images? - the graphics from the CC home page?.)

Looks like your Files folder needs a good clean out

I looked at your site using both Firefox and IE 8 on Windows 7. I can see what you are referring to. I think you would benefit from listening to Jo Ann's comments. There is way too much going on for a home page. My first piece of advice is to plan the website design having more pages with links from the front page. For example, the 'Contact Us', 'Login', 'Events', and other objects should be on separate pages. There are a lot of duplicate objects that need to be cleaned out. I'm not an experienced VSD user but I've had similar problems with duplicates. You are going to need to find the extra text objects and delete them. In my case, I had to move my background fields out of the way to make them easier to find. Again though, if you simply what is on each page, add more pages, you will find it easier to work on your site. Best of luck.

Hi Tuksedo
I have attached a screenshot of a couple of things I noticed here.
On a couple of the buttons the text goes outside the button area.
Check the spelling for "photography"
And I agree that maybe you have tried to put way too much into the front page. The front page is usually used as a kind of fairly simple presentation of what your users are going to find in the rest of the site. You can then use a menu to lead people into the areas which interest them most instead of making them go through everything you have to offer when maybe only one area attracts them.
Having everything in one place makes it hard to distinguish and focus... both for you and for your users. Don't ask friends what they think of your site... ask complete strangers who will hopefully be more objective and give your a more objective opinion. A bit like us in here really.
Anyway, all the best as it sure looks as if you have a big site to organize.

I think this thread is just dead. There has been no reply from this user since July 16th. We also had him open a support ticket as well and our last response from him was also around the 16th.
