This forum was helpful. The Coffee Cup Visual site designer is one of the products that I recommend my coaching students use.

When a few of them started to have this same problem, I started to think I would have to find another application.

I have referred a few students through my link at http://trainingbyj.com/links.html
and I will be referring a lot more in the future.

I wish you all had an affiliate program:(

If it helps, I've also had this error too.

Creating my first website was fine. Then I went to create my next project. After saving the website successfully a couple of times, I got the dreaded Homage cannot be saved error. I'd followed much of the recommendations here including seeing if there were any empty text boxes.

I'd looked at my link boxes since that was about the last thing I did. I'd only just started this web page at the home page, so it was not a problem to turn off the links and even delete the buttons. All to no avail.

Then I saved my work by using 'Save As..'.

Then I closed VSD.

On opening VSD, it informed me that my trial period had expired. Even though I'd purchased and installed the registered version. I'd installed over the trial version. So, I uninstalled, and then reinstalled, and now all is well.

Regards,

Rob

Great software, by the way!

I had a situation where I wanted to make changes to a website, but did not want to delete the original, till I was sure my changes were satisfactory. I opened the site in VSD and then did a save as (different name). All was well. I continued working with the site under the new name, made some mods, then clicked on save and got the error. I tried locating extra text boxes that were empty, etc. to no avail. Finally I did a save as, again, overwriting the new VSD (different name) file I had created. I then closed the site, went to file/open website/(different name) and opened it. I then clicked on save and it worked perfectly. I have had no more problems.

I have received this error a couple of times. It is usually in the first phase of developing a website. I am usually working on the first page page and when I go to save the project or exit it will give me the error. It is not as serious as it sounds. As Phil mentioned, after you exit, and re-open the project everything is there. This last time I didn't even bother to save as, as I hardly had anything to worry about.

The last time it happened I was working on this last week http://www.dynabiz.ca/temp/ and this is where I quit and it gave me the error message. But everything is still there. Haven't made it back there yet!

Yes, well, don't believe that... Tried, knowing the risk, and everything was gone... Time for Coffee Cup Software to fix this bug, or I will be an ex-customer (the last version I used - and paid for - had a similar snag, where the program just crashed, it seemed time-/overflow-based, after 30 minutes or so into a project...

Not ready for prime time, in my view...

Homepage Cannot be saved error.

1. Create a new website using the theme 'Business As Unusual'
2. Make no changes to the template
3. Click save
4. The system comes back with the 1st error - The selected picture does not exist; in the file location box is: Business As Unusual-v6_website\files\body_bg.jpg // You have the ability to Use a solid color or locate. Choose Use a solid color. Click OK
5. same as #4 with this path ->Business As Unusual-v6_website\files\icon_testimonials.jpg
6.Business As Unusual-v6_website\files\testimonials_border.jpg
7. Business As Unusual-v6_website\files\subpage_headline_bg.jpg

Well you get the idea. Happens every time I try to use this template.

Any solutions?

I don't understand why this home page can not be saved error is still a problem after a year or so. I just downloaded the latest version of VSD 6.06 I believe. Worked on a new site for hours, saving periodically and not knowing what to do with the home page not save message. I don't usually read the forums to find out the bugs in a program so I did not know to look for empty text boxes ( never heard of that one in 5 years of using VSD ) and did not think of trying save as. Anyway, is there a fix in a new version that you do not have available on the coffee cup site or do we just limp along. Can you provide a concise list of bugs for these programs, ( i have bought most all of them ) so we don't have to read every post in every forum before we use the programs?

Hi guys
I'm still very much a newbie to all this, but I had this issue last week. I had added text boxes with text, changed images and created a couple of links on my homepage and similar on other pages. I also added a page.
When I tried to save I initially got a message informing me I could not save the homepage, however I was working on a different page at the time. I changed to the homepage and tried to save again. This time I was informed that the homepage could not be saved due to an error with a mouse over object... (Sorry I can't remember the exact wording). I realized that I had attempted a mouse over and not completed it. I found it and deleted it. Problem seemed resolved. It may be that if a process is incomplete it causes the issue.
I have just gone to my homepage , clicked on mouse over, then clicked on some existing text. I then clicked Save and the homepage could not be saved.:D
This was not the first time though- When it happened before I was clueless to what the problem was! I could neither save or save as.... But I could upload. AND THEN I COULD SAVE. The problem may relate to the differences between the way the site is built on the computer prior to saving, as opposed to building on the computer before uploading.
I just tried
Good hunting.
