I too had lots of the same issue. After a while I got the brainstorming idea to restart my PC .... all problems solved.

The process I had gone through earlier was to uninstall the old version, install the new version and just start working.

Maybe the program should have a message or something to restart after installation.

OK now I'm looking where to post about some of the things I don't like about it!!

We have finally tracked the cause of the program and we do have a temporary work around.

If at some point you use the Save-As function, any attempt to use use Save after that will produce this error. To work around this issue, use the Save-As function each time you want to save.

We have already fixed this in the 6.1 version.

I havent read through the whole topic but I can confirm that exactly the problem I was having. I think the issue i was having was delete the text inside the element and not the box itself. I have had this issue severel times to the point I would just start over. This was very helpful thank you very much you saved me a lot of grief.

I just bought this program yesterday and was having this very problem. At first it kept saying it could not save my homepage and now everytime I hit the save button it does the "Visual Designer Application has encountered a problem and needs to close" box. I did a select all and there are no empty text boxes.

Please open a support ticket and one of our techs can look into this for you.

I had this same problem caused by saving a PageID in the Page Properties Box that contained an illegal character.

When you first "Add Page" and copy a previously built template the program will correct an improper Page ID one time only. If you go back to this page and open the Page Properties Box again you can change the Page ID to include an illegal character and it can be successfully saved. However when it comes time to try and upload the page to your website you will get the message saying VSD cannot save the page.

Could the problem be something experienced largely or exclusively by people who have had the evaluation copy of VSD installed? That was the case for me. Also please note that I've used the application SO little, that it's hard for me to believe (and no insult is intended by this, believe me - I *love* Visual Site Designer and related) that the cause of the problem is anything but something somehow replicable?? I've been using the application for just a few hours at most. Anyway, would like to also suggest it might be helpful to allow people to post lists of other applications and utilities being run, OS verison, etc., so as to allow comparisons (and/or to take same from folks like myself)? Would be glad to participate - so that any 3rd party utilities and/or whatevers being run in common by most or many people suffering from the Save problem could identify same? Just a couple ideas from a totally brand new user (and a very happy one, I will add, except for this Save problem, which is very little in comparison to the bugginess of so many of the other web design packages I've been thru (4 on the Mac side, and at least as many on Windows). I had this problem and it was a quick fix, there was an empty text box with a used text box on top of it (the text was set to be a link), I erased the underlying box and then it saved
