In the ftp settings I have the remote folder set as " /public_html/las" for a subdomain http://las.inkmon.org

The files go where they should and by browsing http://las.inkmon.org or http://inkmon.org/las the site shows perfectly. This is also true of my main site. with a ftp setting of /public_html/

But under the publishing tab there is the option 'Open Published Website'

However taking case 1. after previewing and checking the site at it's correct address see in bold above

The browser looks for http://inkmon.org//public_html/las//index.html It adds "public_html" in the address

There does not appear an adjustment to have a browser address as it cannot be the same as a ftp address due to where the site actually is on the server.

I hope I am wrong and there is an easy fix. In the mean time I knocked up a resident utility to open the page at the right location, now I got that far with it I shall add an upload for the form folder and files.

I am probably missing something in settings but haven't tripped over it yet.

Still not a show stopper though. I am having fun with this program, its better than sliced bread.

This is strange I tried by uploading to S_Drive and the browser was directed to the correct address for both the view site tab and Open Published Website tab. I cannot see the settings as it is taken care of by S_Drive. http://inkmon.coffeecup.com/site/ no added public_html there
So it only affects other servers it would seem.

This will be a slow process as there is a committee deciding on the appearance of the site. I am open to all suggestions. We may all be great Artists but cannot design for toffee

I would agree with you that there appears to be a need for some tweaking to the open published website short cut. I confirmed the issue that you see. I'll pass it to the CC Guru's.

OK Prism, Don't click on "Open Published Website" unless it's an S-Drive site. The CC gurus have spoken and they hope to have it addressed in the next update. It's suppose to be disabled for non S-Drive sites.

It is a good feature why not make it settable. Like place it on the tool bar. I know CC wish to promote their hosting and would much better if they came back to the pack.

I get hosting with an American business in Texas with 20 subdomains, 20 sql databases basically unlimited bandwidth and file storage. There is no limit to the number of forms and the statistics is quite satisfactory all that for $us40/year which is cheaper for us since the Aussie dollar passed parity.

So CC will sell their software to more people who host elsewhere. Their offer of one site per member is good but it cannot carry the load of a working site. Free hosting offer more. It can only be used for test purposes or a small family info site. Which I will use it for.

It doesn't matter to me as I have my utility now load with VSD. I have to click a icon instead of one in the program. Funnily it is the failings of software companies that gives me the opportunity to offer solutions. Microsoft being the main.

VSD is giving me the chance to gradually bring all my utilities into one site. Cuts down on subdomains.
For that I should thank CC for the opportunity.

I shall not stop being a CC fan as they create great well thought out programs. The programmers are great shame others do not have their vision

That menu feature was specifically designed for S-Drive because we know the actual location of where the website is located. It would be difficult to make it work for sites hosted elsewhere because we wouldn't know if what you are putting in the remote folder path is actually a server root folder path or a folder where your files are stored.

Example. If you put in /public_html we try and go to www.mydomain.com/public_html because that is what is in the remote folder path. Now it gets even more complicated for sites that use something like /domain.com/public_html so to us that would resolve as www.mydomain.com/domain.com/public_html (phew).

What we would have to do then is under the FTP settings include a new variable that allows you to enter in your website URL and we use that for this function. That is a lot of work when you can just go to your browser and enter in the URL.

There is ALWAYS a reason for the madness.

S-Drive is a different kind of hosting platform. Sure there are platforms out there that offer more features that we do not have, but this does diminish value. You would be amazed how many of our customers just have a single website, want one domain and not have to worry about anything technical. They want the magic of pushing a single button and their website is online. Also, we are a turn-key solution for all your needs. Since we control the software and the hardware, there never is a "ping pong" effect of going back and forth between your hosting provider and us. As you can see by my many posts here and if you ever open a support ticket, you get responses extremely fast. Sometimes within minutes. This rivals any hosting company out there.

Ok Scott I accept what you say. I do not have any problems with publishing from VSD it is quick and the fact that it keeps backup files is fantastic and to all that read this. I will state quite emphatically that VSD is a Webmasters dream come true. I am only sorry I was so slow to take it up.

I am currently using your DFTP to upload my files and the free version is better than any other I have tried. I am a pensioner and my site pays for your applications. Site mapper is on the list.

You must excuse me but I cannot help asking for that mod sometime in the future it would be so easy a one click actual preview. Actually to add another tab and an input box to store the URL and write to a temp file in my programming language is a simple matter. Writing the pdf as an explanation takes longer I will admit and then redoing the download and install. Yes a big PITB
