After five hours of work as a newbie, I opened up my file this morning to continue working, and all i got was a blank home page.
I dug around my hard drive and I found the objects I had created, all there in JPG form. the "glue" that holds them all together, for lack of a better phrase, is gone.
And yes, i did hit save. I am too inexperienced not be be paranoid i will loose something. . . which I have.
At what point does one conclude they need to hire a designer?

Ernest,
Try to not put too many holes in the walls. Patching walls only leads to more frustration and additional holes in the wall.
I think you are using VSD, but it would be a good idea to mention what program you are using. Otherwise, you may get answers that apply to the wrong program.
Did you load the .vnu file into VSD?
Have you tried a search of your computer? Click on start | search. Then enter vnu and see what shows up.

I'm sorry. Yes, I am using VSD; created the design in VSD the whole way. My older attempts at design are there and they pull up fine.
Sounds like I need to just accept it has gone to the great bit bucket in the sky and start over.
Not ready to call in a developer . . . yet.

Ernest,
Sorry it did not appear during the search. I don't think I have heard of VSD not saving to the hard drive.

Hi ,
I was wondering Ernest if you used a template and maybe your project was saved in the template folder where the original was choosen, even though you've done a search it may just show up as the template name. Just a thought.

Why not try using the search file feature and let your computer look for the .vnu file....if it's there somewhere, it will locate it for you.

Tried that. Gone. Starting over from scratch. Had to walk away from this for a few days.
I've got exactly the same problem.
All the pages are available - the vnu file from the latest save has gone.
Hours of work - down the drain

Ernest and Martin,
I've asked Scott at CC about your problem, and he wants you to open a support ticket. They have just tracked down this bug, which is that the vnu file is being saved without the file extension.

I'm unsure if this is a related problem however it is the closest I have found on the Forums.
I too completed a design in VSD(6.06), saved, uploaded to the web server / published (although using a seperate ftp application as I can't get VSD to publish directly) the site. All fine. This morning I went to open up the design to tweak it a bit, located the VNU file, opened it and, according to VSD, my entire site consists of 1 page that is entirely empty save for the banner at the top and some graphics of menu buttons. The majority of the content from the home page and the additional 5 pages in their entirety have gone. If I wish to make any more changes I will have to recreate the site with no guarantee that this won't happen again.
It would seem impossible that I didn't save the site as I have published it. Could this be linked to the same issue? I'm happy to post this up on a new thread if not.
Any help woul be greatly appreciated
