I installed build 16 without first removing the older version (I think 7.14?). Had numerous issues with files not found, pictures being deleted from the 'Files' directory and mouseovers completely broken, even creaitng new ones.

I tried to uninstall it so i can get a fresh copy of VSD and getting the message 'Error Opening the Installation Log. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable'.

Any suggestions?

I've not needed to use this, but it's been recommended a number times in the CC forums.
You might give this a try to clean out left over registry entries.

Add my voice to the chorus of praise for Piriform's ccleaner. It's a standard component on all of my computers and also on those that I'm asked to work on for others.

If it doesn't do the trick for this situation, another thing you might try is the free version of the Revo Uninstaller. It can often work where the standard uninstall routines fail. You can obtain it here.

I have had the same problem. I have lost many many files and now have 3 sites messed up bad. I was up all night rebuilding from scratch thinking I had a corrupted file. Not the case.
This morning I restored my computer back 30 days and it seems to be working.
Now I am going to spend the day fixing the files that where deleted from my "File" folder in the .vnu folder. Grrrr long day but I have faith that the guys at CC will do everything they can to find the issue.
I have been using CC for 6 years know and I am happy.
I did send in a support ticket and will let you know what I hear.

Have a live broadcast going over one of the sites and it starts at 8am tomorrow. Murphy;s Law bites!

Thanks Rodgw, that worked. Here is Scott's reply to my support post. Problem Resolved

The "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file" error message that you are receiving is due to an improper install when first used. What you will need to do in order to correct this is to manually remove the files by going through the following path:

Start > Computer > C: > Program files > CoffeeCup Software > Locate the CoffeeCup application folder for the program and press delete

Next you will need to visit this site (http://www.ccleaner.com/), and download the free version by following the download links, then install it onto your computer.

Now you will need to run the application, and select the Registry tool on the left, then scan for issues. Next you will need to click on Fix selected issues and do not back up the changes to the registry. Then click on the option to fix all selected issues.

Finally you should be able to go into the add or remove programs folder and not see the application you are having problems with.

You can follow these exact same steps for any other application you are having problems removing from your hard drive not just CoffeeCup.
