I need to update the first page of my personal site and add some more locations on the map. Can this page and the links on the map be done in VSD? (It's in Dreamweaver now.)

Here is the link: mdweil.com

I guess I'm hoping I won't need to buy SiteMapper .....

You can do this a couple different ways. You can put the links on the page ( not sure if VSD allows you to put things wherever you want it as I don't use the program sorry) by either putting them on the page, or by using the CC Image Mapping program which would do this pretty nicely also. You can use the code it gives you in the HTML Tool in VSD.

There may be other ways also, but these are the 2 ways that come to my mind at the moment :)

Hi Marilyn,

You can put text links anywhere on the page, so you could put them over the places on the map that they correspond to. You'll need to make sure you use the advanced text feature so your font will look the same on all computers, also this will let you have different colors for your links (with regular text, VSD will use your default link colors from the settings dialogue).
What you have there is perfect for Sitemapper - countries or regions could be clicked on as well as titles.

If you wanted to update just the links on the map, you could also do what Jo Ann mentioned. Make your changes in your Dreamweaver file then use the HTML tool to put the map on your VSD page. Copy the Dreamweaver code, then paste it into the html box. Make sure you add the map image to your VSD files.

The scrolling div (or an iframe) can also be inserted using the HTML tool, so everything you have there can be done in VSD.
The new VSD 7 will be available soon. It's got some nice features that make it very easy to put together a really nice site :)

Thanks Paintbrush, I like VSD so much better than Dreamweaver that I was hoping to not use dw.

What i would really like to do is this: Add colored stars (instead of the name) on the map and have a mouse-over that would be a balloon pop-up that would describe what was to be seen in each location. Any thoughts on this? Guess I need to play around with VSD some more.

A new VSD???? Great!!!

I think some of the new button, link and mouse-over stuff will make you happy :D
But you'll still need to go outside VSD for the pop-ups. Here's a few ideas:

I think there's been a few discussions around here concerning modal boxes - so have a look around and see what other "Coffee Cuppers" have used.
