I am new to web design...want to use easy software to start. Trialing "create a new website based on a theme" in the Visual Site Design software and so far I like the program. I want to know if I can change "about us" to "about me" and so on. If so how do I go about it...if I can't change main link titles what software do you suggest...thanks!

You can change everything of a theme within VSD. Just click on what you want to change.
If it's a menu button, you get the Object property box popping up, and you change the text in it.
If you want to change some simple text, click it and select the Text tool from the left toolbar.
If you want to change out an image, click it, delete it and insert another one.
