So, S-Drive...no clear explanation as...

Hi all

Maybe I'm stupid, but I'm having difficulty assessing exactly what S-drive is.
I know I can manage streams, which is good as I want a blog-type part of my site. However, I have a number of questions and hope someone can help:
What exactly does it do? All I can fathom is that I can upload a picture from my kid's soccer game. This is a problem as firstly, my website is for business and secondly, I have no child. Perhaps I should steal a child...
Can I make it like a newsletter? I mean if people get emailed of updates, then this would ultimately be what I want it for. Or can I just post mini streams like Twitter or Facebook?
The packages have themes - can we have streams that follow the themes of our websites?
I assume the s-drive is hosted in the US? This is no good for UK SEO, so is there a way I can upload directly onto my FTP?
I get an address with S-Drive. However, I would like, if I have it as a blog, to use my own domain without web forwarding.

So many questions.
Thank you in advance
Terri

When it comes to S-drive it's basically CC's hosting plan. Their providing a place to host your site that is being integrated into their own software. This removes a lot of the problems that people have when setting up websites when it comes to ftp, security settings and domain registration just to name a few. They continue to add functionality to this service on a timely basis letting users test each new function before moving to the next. As far as Stream is concerned you can post pretty much any thing you want. The themes allow users an easy way to achieve a good look with out the hassle of hard coding a site. Now if your in need of killing some time you can go into your theme settings and enter what their calling hard core mode and edit the coding for your Streams theme and make it the way you want. CC is also doing continual upgrades to Stream adding more function and control on just about a weekly basis.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi Eric
Thanks a lot for your help! Another few quick questions:
If I have stream, does this have to be linked to S-Drive, or can I have it hosted with my website? (a US based hosting platform would de-SEO my UK based site).
If I used S-Drive, can I have my website hosted in the UK and only the stream stuff hosted with s-drive? Or do I have to move everything?
Thank you for your help!

Your stream can be embedded on any site but it's still on CC's servers. Kinda like YouTube. S-Drive is solely CC's baby so if you want to use it to host a site forwarding will have to be implemented. I use my S-Drive site for posting examples to users in need of help on this forum.

Streams are a part of S-Drive. When you sign up, you create a website address with us. That website address then can have other services attached to it like streams, site, and soon forms and shop.

Which services you decide to use are completely up to you.

My websites were all hosted in USA up until recently, SEO has not been an issue and i too am in UK

I had no.1 google ranking for my main site for 2 years, now its in uk i still have exactly the same ranking

If you add your own domain name to CC S drive,( as addon, I think CC call it a slug) and then tell google yahoo etc to set your main country as UK it will work fine.

If you look in my signature there there is a boat site, on free hosting in USA it has very high ranking, on its own subdomain (.hostie.com),

S drive will give you everything you need and its included free for one website, or a small fee for more than 1

If you get stuck, i may be able to help out
