You can use jAlbum with VSD.

You can continue to use Jalbum with a VSD site. I've used different Jalbum galleries on a few different sites. Until CC comes up with something similar (hint-hint), I'll stick with Jalbum.

On that Photo Gallery question, it would depend on a couple things whether you need to get it or not. Will you want to have a Flash gallery or a javascript/jquery one? Flash isn't viewable on most Apple based products so it's a bit limited and Photo Gallery is mostly a flash based program .. BUT ..

All is not lost here if you decide to put your gallery on a CoffeeCup S-Drive account. I don't "think" the Gallery software works with the Free S-Drive accounts, but someone that uses it may know more on that. The S-Drive system has the ability to create jquere/javascript galleries using the CoffeeCup Photo Gallery software so it will work great if you aren't picky about where your gallery is hosted. They usually iframe in pretty nicely without too many issues, but as I said, others that actually use it will probably know more on that.

So it depends on if you want Flash or Jquery and also on if you want it loaded on your own server or on an S-Drive server. If S-Drive is ok, then Photo Gallery will work great for what you need. If you want hosted it on your own server then you may want to look for something like Visual Slideshow or something similar so it isn't Flash based.

Well then you have the 2 options mentioned. You can use the Photo Gallery software and upload your gallery to CoffeeCup's S-Drive and then iframe it into your site, OR you can find some jquery/javascript gallery scripts which are very abundant on the web. There's quite a few threads in the forums on them and a google search will find you quite a few too as well as some great software out there to make them with.

Am hoping CC will come in with one that doesn't need to be uploaded to S-Drive, we'll have to wait and see though. Good luck with it

I still have a license for jAlbum. Would you consider that part of the second option (jquery/javascript gallery)? I am not necessarily tied down to jAlbum, it's that I paid for a license only a couple of months ago. Really I just want my web site to have full featured photo galleries, ones that I can easily and quickly upload photos, sizeable thumbnails and enlarged view images, captions, customization of the look and feel of the photo gallery to at least resemble my web site, and the option to allow authenticated users to leave comments after the captions. Ease of use. By the way, I noticed you remarked that you were hoping CC would come up with a photo gallery that doesn't need to be uploaded to S-Drive. I thought using S-Drive was a good thing. Is it not, in the overall scheme of things with creating and maintaining a web site?

The CC Photo Gallery can be added to any site, but it's Flash. The SDrive option (Jquery) is pretty limited at this time. We'd like to have the full-featured Photo Gallery – in a Jquery version – that would easily integrate with any site/host, including Sdrive accounts.





All of the things you want in your album are possible with Jalbum, so you might as well use what you've already paid for. It's easy to use and easy to incorporate into a VSD site.

As for S-Drive, yes it's a good thing if you need hosting, but it's not a good thing if you already have hosting elsewhere. Since my company provides hosting it's kind of not totally needed for all things that we'd need to host so having to put a gallery in a separate location outside of where the rest of our site (or a client's site) is hosted is just overkill for me and others. So if they create the jquery version of the Photo Gallery so it's no longer flash that would be awesome and we could upload them to our own hosts instead of hosting with S-Drive.

No sense paying for 2 hosts in other words.

Other than that, hope you get it worked out, I'd stick with what you have already too for the gallery.
