photo web site - "slideshow" function

As a photographer and artist, I often visit web sites that have a sort of "slideshow" type interface for showing images. Usually you click on a thumb of an image or image gallery, and the image pops up (sometimes on a screen which seems to be floating above the web page). From here you can select forward, or back or up (home) buttons to view the images.

Does anyone know how I can create this? And is there any coffeecup software that does this? (I assume it's done with flash or XHTML coding.)

Lots of photographers in CC forum, and i am sure they will drop in with some help,

Sarahphotographer in my signature, has two types of gallery both created with CC photogallery personal portfolio is one, the individual galleries are another option

I am not using scroll arrows but they are an option

Some people use a VSD to creat webpages, where one page has the thumbnails on and each one has a link to individual pages with the individual full size images on (opening in a new brouser tab.

there will undoubtedly be some more user options along shortly for you.
Started using CC VSD in January 2009, I don't do HTML code, Sales from CC site exceeding expectations taken me out of semi-retirement
