Not Understanding the Numbers

I'm new to the program and liking it very much. My background is that I'm comfortable with html and css but no expert. I started with a test form to learn how it all works, but I'm not understanding the numbers.

I've got a form with a width of 900 px with default margins of 5 5 5 5.

When I add a field, there are no margin settings, just padding. The default padding is 6 4 15 4, but the left side of the text field looks like it's inset much farther than that. Is there a way to adjust the left margin for the form elements?

Also, when I choose a section break with the default padding of 6 4 15 4 and a width of 774 px if fills the form side to side with the expected margins and padding, but the form is 900 px wide.

Why are these things happening, is there a setting I'm overlooking?

Thanks.

Play with the width % setting for each element.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

There are no settings for margins on elements. Margins are controlled by the Form Options. You can adjust the padding for each element by changing the Item Width Percentages.

For the Section Break, just go to the Properties Tab and you can adjust the percentage width as well as padding, height and maximum width.
