No communication with photo file or...

I place a photo in the proper folder, i.e. tool in the tools folder. the "ftp view only" does not see it. I can drag and save it there and add the http:// etc. but front page doesn't see it. I feel it's lost communication with my file and probably the host.

Using Free FTP.

Link?

When you say 'front page', do you mean the front page of your site, or the programme MS FrontPage?

It is MS front page!

And a link to the site? We need to see the code in order to be able to help.

BTW, if MS FrontPage is the culprit, you would probably get better advice in a forum dedicated to that programme. We can help you with CoffeeCup programmes. Anyway, hasn't FrontPage aged a tad over the years? Maybe time has come to look for something new?

I found the problem wth coffee cup not reading my files and that is working fine. When I drag a file to the right side (server side) it saves them as always but when I add the extensions to the photos they are not published as they should be. I thimk it's not writeing to the host. Or the host may have the same problem as I did and allthough I fixed it on my computer I dont know how to change it on my host. Writing this is causing me to think about the problem but not answer it. Front page is the only HTML writer I know and it took me long enough to learn how to use it, I have another old app but I'm not sure it's supported either. If I were to find something new that was a better program I dont have time to learn it now, my sales are way down since my computer crashed almost three weeks ago.

After my last post I may have thought I was on top of the problem but I was wrong, (not the first time) I still cant get my photos to show once I publish them. Below I've gone over the steps as I do them...

At this point I've tried everything I can think of. I know I'm handling the files correctly. The left side of Coffee Cup sees the new files, the right side seems to connect to my host, I drag the new files to the right side which than becomes a mirror image of the left side. From the left side I drag the file to MSfrontpage and I see the picture I've been working with, I click properties and add the extensions (http://www. and than add .com to whatsforless) the picture is gone and doesn't come back, I check it in preview (on the web) and no picture. I've been doing this for a number of years starting without an FTP program and than a program that worked well but I had trouble with it after a crash and went to Coffee Cup for about four years and never had a problem.

Is it me or what???? I've got to get it working quickly.

As I said earlier, a link to your site would help a lot instead of me making just guesses.

I don't quite understand your procedure, maybe because I don't use FrontPage. But when you have inserted an image into a site, saved and opened the FTP programme, you should see the 'image.jpg' or whatever you have called it, on the left side. You just drag it over to the right side, there are no more 'extensions' to add. I assume that you have the correct path to the image written in the file, in which it is supposed to appear.

I would also highly suggest you "take" some time to learn another Editor as that one is no longer supported even by Microsoft. It's very extremely outdated and writes much code that is no longer supported and is deprecated. Just a heads up there.

CoffeeCup has a free HTML Editor that you can use to do your site if you're doing code, and they have a pretty good visual editor in Visual Site Designer, but you would have to start from scratch with that one. If you're doing code though, check out the HTML Editor Free and see if that will work for you. It's pretty easy to use and if you like it maybe you'll want to upgrade to the paid version which has a few more features.

Other than that, a link would help immensely as Inger has already pointed out twice. :)

I'm not sure what you want in the way of a link. I have nothing on my web site, I sell on eBay. I make up the web page in front page than copy the HTML and paste it into eBay's turbo lister. I make up the pages during the week and turbo lister loads them in my eBay store when ever I want. I have limited knowledge with technology and frankly don't want to change what has been working for a number of years.

As I see it Coffee Cup is not connecting with Powweb or if it's connected it's not uploading to Powweb.
