Hosting on Other Servers

I am by no means a master at this, but I have a site hosted here on S-Drive that I did in the full blown HTML Editor and a new site I just published last week done in VSD. My question is what pit falls or issues do I need to be aware of if I should do a site for someone that wants it hosting on a different server, such as a web form?

Just make sure that the 'host' in question meets all of the requirements for the site you design. These may include php version, sendmail or smtp and you may have to set file permissions. Each host seems to have it's own little quirks so you'll probably have to wait and see. I think someone here was collecting a list of host that work well with CoffeeCup software. Hopefully they can post it here. I'm on GoDaddy and I know it works well with everything. I'd like to say that most of the major hosts will work. There are a few though . . .:P

So are you saying that I can develop a site using all of the Coffee Cup products and then just upload the files to GoDaddy. The reason I ask, is I am a member of a club and we have a site on GoDaddy, but it is done with the GoDaddt tools. I never was a fan of their site as I found it difficult to navigate as they seemed to change it all the time.

I use GoDaddy all the time and just FTP the files, or use the built in publish function of VSD. Works like a champ. I do have an unlimited shared hosting plan. But have never really had any issues that GoDaddy wouldn't fix.

As far as navigating the site, they seem to change it almost on a weekly basis. As long as you can get to your hosting panel in case you need to setup an ftp account or create a database that is probably all you need.

Just give a shout here if you need anything more.

I manage a client's site that's on Go Daddy. Except for the annoying ads overload, it's pretty easy to deal with. As with most all major hosts, they offer cPanel so you can access your files from within your account to make changes/edits and do just about anything else you can think of. Also, you can browse to files you want to upload – handy for swopping out photos, or other quick edits.
