Hi
I just downloaded the coffeecup free FTP 4.3 and am very new to this. I could be asking something very basic. When i first opened the program, i could see on the right hand side asking for 'choose a server to connect to...'
I like to know how to configure or create a server in my local computer?
I have window 7 as my operating system.
Many thanks!

To connect to a web server via ftp you must first supply the program the connection details.

host: mydomain.com
UN: snappy
PW: iLyKech0coLaTEm1lK
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

I created a local host using Apache.

Here's a Youtube video that explains the process.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi!
Still need your help guys! I checked the youtube link that Eric gave. That video seems to be explaining how to work with apache. I must say that i have WAMP installed in my computer to work with Wordpress and Joomla. I wonder if i could use the apache from wamp? If i can, please explain how. This is a first time that I am doing this, so going a bit more in detail would help.
Another thing, as i have a website online (www.megadatingzone.com) i wanted to use this as a server. First, I used my domain name as my server. I gave a new user name and password. That did not work. Then I contacted my hosting company and they gave me my ip address. They told me to use the same user name and password they gave me. Acutally i used Hostgator. That too did not work.
So, I am stucked...lol
Please help, anyone, if you can.
Thanks a lot.

Well I need some things clarified. Do you want to setup a server on your own computer or do you want to get your ftp to work with Hostgator?

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Actually, i like to setup a server on my own computer. I am new to this and not sure if i could use WAMP which is installed on my computer or simply setup a completely new one.
Thanks again!

Just save everything in the www folder that WAMP provides (or in a subfolder), you don't need any ftp connection for that.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Hi Guys!
Thanks for the information. You see when i click on the servers icon to create/configure a server, a small window pups up with a form to fill. I need to fill it up. I have Nickname, Server ( I like to know what to insert there) In a tutorial i followed a domain name was inserted) Some says, an IP address need to be inserted. Then the Username( what to put in there, can i create anyone?)
Inger says:

Save what there?

I simple want to get coffeecup Free FTP working and i like to know how.

Armon, To get Coffeecup ftp working you need a host, Like Hostgator. They should have provided you with your login in information when you signed up for the account and domain name. You don't use ftp for setting up a server on your own pc. To have a website on your own computer you need to have a static IP address provided by your IP provider. You just copy the files you want to show on the web into the appropriate folder for each server software. I haven't used wamp so I can't tell you the specific details for that server. Hope this helps.:)

Hi Eric!
As I mentioned on my very first post above, that i did try the hosting company HostGator. They provided me the IP address, the username and the password. I had a long chat with them. They could not figure out why it was not working. They even suggest to forget about coffeecup and use Filezella. I tried that one too, i had problem with the setting up.
Tell me, is there not anyway to set a local server. You see, was following a course and coffeecup was in use. So, i much prefer going that way.
Anything else you can think about?
Thanks
