Since my sites were created with Dreamweaver, all my templates are in HTML. It doesn't appear that CoffeeCup supports templates and that I would have to convert all my templates to CSS. Is this correct or is there someway to make the HTML templates work with CoffeeCup?

I'm not sure about bringing Dreamweaver Templates into the Coffee Cup HTML Editor – I think Dreamweaver creates some sort of proprietary code when you use its templates feature.
The HTML Editor can certainly handle HTML (and CSS, PHP, JS...), and you can use CC Templates or any standard HTML/CSS templates with it if you don't want to start from scratch.

Larry, you say simply 'CoffeeCup'. This company has produced some 30 programmes, so it would be fine if you told us which one you want to use. If you have planned on getting the HTML Editor, yes, read what Paintbrush said. If you are thinking about getting Visual Site Designer (VSD), you will not be able to import any templates or already created html pages.

CSS is a way of coding the APPEARANCE of your pages, not the content, and you cannot 'convert' html pages from HTML to CSS. And I'm sure that Dreamweaver is also using CSS for their templates now, after all the technology has been known for the last 12 - 15 years. Both HTML and CSS files from Dreamweaver can be opened in the HTML Editor, but, as Paintbrush says, there is some proprietary code that you can't make use of outside DW.

I haven't used Dreamweaver in many years (why bother – the Editor is so much better ), but it seems like it had "lay-out boxes" which could be dragged around to position. The resulting code would be a mish-mash of tables & css. I don't have any idea how it converts/saves your pages when you choose Templates.

Larry, if you could post a link to one of the template sites, we could have a look at the underlying code to see if it would be possible to work with it in the Editor or if you would have to stick with Dreamweaver.

If these are older sites, it might be worth a re-do anyway to bring them up to modern (and mobile-friendly) standards.

Thanks for your comments. Sorry for not mentioning that I was referring to HTML Editor. I realize that CSS is the way to go these days. I'm not dead set on templates or Dreamweaver and converting the templates to CSS would be a big job. With all the CSS templates available, it would not be that difficult to drop the HTML templates all together. Besides, the website could use a new look. The site you referenced consists of basic HTML/CSS coding, all of which is certainly editable in the CC HTML Editor. I don't see any specific, 'proprietary Dreamweaver' coding there.
As Inger pointed out, HTML and CSS is not an either/or situation, but rather two sets of coding that complement each other. The HTML provides the content and the CSS provides the styling/placement of the content.
It's not clear to me what you mean by 'converting the HTML templates to CSS'.

Unless the templates are so old that they have old html tags for fonts, sizes, colours etc... But if it is like that, I wouldn't use those templates for a number of other reasons.

When you change a template in Dreamweaver, it automatically updates all pages that use the template. I'm not familiar enough with HTML Editor but I don't see this feature in it. CSS would resolve the update issue.

Css and a little php solves all the issues and still leaves you with creative freedom.
