I just downloaded the Trial version which seems to be very nice. In my current editor, when I open the program, I automatically get a plain empty page where I can start typing whatever I want. I often use my editor just to take notes so I don't always want an html page. How can I do this in CoffeeCup?
Second question, does CoffeeCup have the ability to do columns?
Any help with be greatly appreciated.

Hiya mlwhite,
I don't believe it has a "blank page" option, I was looking for that a couple days ago when I was trying to answer someone else's question, but couldn't find any way to do it so I did the obvious next choice....
Create an HTML page
Use Ctrl+A to highlight all the text on that page
Hit delete
that takes care of that and you now have an empty page. since it's only a handful of lines it's not too much to remove to get a blank page. If you don't want it to be an .html page at all then use the Save As function to save it as something else.
Save As
Drop the 2nd dropdown at the bottom to *.*
Change the .html of the file name in the first box to .txt or what ever you're after if it's not in the list of filetypes given in the first line.
You now have a blank page of whatever type you want.
For the Columns I would need a bit more information. I'll assume you mean like a table and if so then yes there is a table builder within the program. If you're talking about layout columns for content such as a right or left column for a menu etc. Yes it can do that too. Check out some of the default layouts and themes that come with the program and you'll see some predefined structures already setup for you there.
Let us know if that isn't what you meant or if you need more assistance.

That's what I was afraid of. I tried CoffeeCupHTML some years back, think Version 5.. and I couldn't find any way to have the program open up to display a blank page. Thought I'd give it another try. My current editor does that. When I click the icon to open the program, it presents me with a blank page, ready to be used. Having to remove text each time just isn't an option for me.
As for columns, let's say I have a bunch of indented text and I don't want it indented. I can turn on "columns" and just drag a "box" down the empty space in the html and delete it. This is what I was asking.. how to do that.
I think I'll just have to stick with my old editor. Thanks for the help.

Go to C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup HTML Editor\Markup\HTML and edit the _default.html page and you can customize how you want the new page to look.

Well, I did that - edited the default.html and removed all text. However, when I open the program, I don't get a blank page. I have a screen with a construction worker (I think) holding a sign advertising S-Drive and a dragon. Is this on the trial version only or is it on the registered version too?
I love the spell checker and how easy it is to connect to my FTP sites and I also like the clean looking interface. The icons don't detract and are easy to see. I can live without column mode but need to resolve the code problem.
I did to to File/Open HTML file but still go the code.

That is the background image of the Editor. That has always appeared there. Go to C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Roaming\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup HTML Editor\Settings and edit the coffee.ini file and change ShowBackgroundLogo=1 to 0.

Thanks!! That worked just fine but... I still cannot get a blank page. That's a must for me.
If I purchase the full version, will I need to download another version or can a reg code be put into the trial version?

You'll need to download and install the registered version.
Thanks!!! The jury is still out on this one but I'll keep trying it for the next few weeks.
