Hello DEAR COFFEECUP!! I don't know if this topic is about spam or I can still write something here. Hopefully. I have a domain, hosted by bluehost and I'm using Wordpress for my CMS. I was thinking now to change it, but I'm not sure if I can integrate all features that I have from wordpress, like slideshow scroll bar etc... I would not like to change my layot. Here is the blog http://www.pargagreece.net.Thank you.
You could make that site in VSD. Take the trial for a spin and see what you think.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Ok, thank you, i will try this!
The title of this thread is perfect. I have a domain hosted elsewhere and am thinking of moving it here but have lots of questions!
I want to start using gmail for my business e-mail and understand that they will let me have an e-mail like this: name@mybusiness.com I thought that I saw that this was free (25 GB) and then in another place it said they charge $5/month. Which is true?
I am a little confused about how the transferring my site to the S drive from another host takes place. Why do the instructions tell me to change the A field and CNAME on my old server? Aren't I leaving them? Why do I need to make changes there?
Since Coffee Cup doesn't have e-mail should I get my mail account set up before I move? Will my changing web hosting mess up my gmail?
I am sort of frustrated that the tech support has to be by appointment instead of just being able to call and talk to someone any time 24/7. I have so many questions that would probably just take a few minutes of time if I could talk to a live person but instead it's preferred I handle questions on the forum. Customer service is a big deal to me. What has been everybody else's experience?

I went through "site transfer hell" a few months ago, and many here (including the Head Honcho himself, Scott) got me through it, right here in the forums. Anyway... Get your email account in order first. Gmail is fine. Also, make sure you're paid up on your domain name (where ever it's registered).
Your domain name stays in place, no matter where your site moves to.
For example, I've got a paid account with Yahoo for web hosting, email and domain name. I'm going to move my site to my SDrive account (not the above mentioned site, that's a different story), but I'll continue to pay a registration fee to keep that domain name and my email addresses.
So my domain name "lives" at Yahoo, and the transfer process...
...makes it possible for my site to be found on Coffee Cup's servers rather than Yahoo's.
I don't know about Gmail's pricing (I've just got a free address with them).
As for getting help around here, not only are the forum members a great resource within the forums, but some have offered to help me by phone and Scott has worked with me through email (late night on a holiday!). You can also put in a support ticket anytime and CC is quick to respond.

We had you all taken care of over the phone this morning Janice. What has changed since Orlando talked with you earlier? We also never push you to the forums for answers and help. You can reach us through support practically all day long. Heck, it is 12:45am and we are still here.

If you want to use your own domain name, then you have two choices:
1. Leave your domain with your existing registrar (normally this is also your hosting provider). This process is extremely easy and you just have to follow the instructions in that link we sent you earlier through support.
2. Transfer it to us. This requires moving your domain from your existing registrar to Network Solutions.
The CNAME process is the simple way to get your existing domain pointing to S-Drive instantly. If you would like us to take over management of your domain, that we can do as well. Just open a support ticket for that and we will give you the instructions on how we can start the process.
So if you are lost, we will help.

Hi Scott,
I'm glad I kept asking questions because I did not have it right. I did not understand that registrar was referring to the place I purchased my domain. I thought it was my current web hosting service.
My registrar is already Network Solutions. My current host is web.com and when I was talking to Orlando earlier today, I was on web.com's website trying to decide what changes to make. Sounds like you're saying I should be making them at Network Solutions?
As it is, I'm afraid to do anything at all right now because changing the "A" IP address at web.com has messed up my site and now it won't come up. I put the number back the way it was but it's still not working right. They say it will take 12-24 hours. We'll see!
I catch on to things fairly quickly but I think you assumed I know more than I really do. I truly do not know that much. I'm probably going to be one of your least knowledgable customers. Here's hoping my site comes back up tomorrow and I can get this right.

Janice, got to drop in her , will make Scott smile remembering
3 years ago i was one of his worst nightmares, couldn't get a grasp on FTP, in my case YFTP or anything else.
Your in safe hands here, support is second to none, forum bunch are friendly, will take the micky from time to time in good humour
If i can get from YFTP, to helping in here it must be almost idiot proof , just all this domain, registrar/hosting/gobledeegoop is different from one registrar to another so sometimes its not quite a straight forward as it could be.
If you need any help from UK, (looking at time your online) i can talk on phone, or skype UK time if you need some instant answers, see delorean site for phone number.(if CC shows me as online)

Hi Viv
You guys really are friendly and thanks so much for offering to let me call you. I have to ask what i the world does "will take the micky" mean? I'm sure that's something said regularly in the UK but that's a new one to me!
Skype is on my "to do" list!
I have to say that the customer service here WAY OUTCLASSES the service I've been getting from my ISP and host provider. It probaby has to do with the fact that I don't know the correct terminology to get what I want but I have been getting the runaround something awful.
I'm going to take Scott up on his offer to help me because I AM lost! Scott, help ticket comin' your way!

If you email me directly at scott@coffeecup.com with your Network Solutions account information, I will configure your DNS settings for you and set it all up and get it pointing over to S-Drive for ya.
