4 min "not responding" clicking href...
I'm a new HTML Editor user and I have a problem when I edit existing pages from my website. If I render the page with F12 and click on any href link on the rendered page the whole editor goes grey and the app title at the top says "not responding". If I leave it for 4+ minutes it finally resolves and the code pane still shows the page with the link and the F12 pane renders the page that is the target of the link.
If I build two brand new pages with the Editor and put a link on one and make the other the target the "not responding" does not happen. My web site is based on a Acme Theme by Cosmic.

Hi Herb,
What kind of link is it? Is it relative or absolute? Do you have any scripts tied to it?

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, Herb. I'm using the HTML Editor regularly, and lately (a couple of months) I've had the programme freezing on me just as I'm typing along, evry couple of minutes. It I have the latest version, and the problem happens in both the latest and the previous version, and both on my desktop and laptop.
Of course I first blamed the Editor and then installed another editor. After a bit the same thing happened there, again on both machines.
Both machines got updated with that downloadable Win 10 as it came out, the desktop from win7, the laptop from win8.1. Neither of them have been reformatted since the update, so I'm on the brink of doing that, to see if that helps.
This might not be related to Herb's problem, but I wonder if someone else has experienced the same as I have.

Reletive. All of the links are to pages on my own site or to documents located there.
the sequence of events is as follows.
when either the split screen or toggle external renders of the code are visible if I click on the element containing the link the edit locks up with a spinning cursor and any attempt to use the editor or even close it produces "(not responding" in the title line at the top of the editor. My first conclusion was that the editor had crashed but so I <ctrl><alt><deleted> to the task manager to shut it down. After this happening many times I "accidently" just let it go and went off to do something else and when I returned I found that the editor was back and the rendering window had loaded the "linked" page. All I had to do was <F11> or <F12> to restore the page I was editing to the split screen or toggle external window. A few intentional sequences showed that it took a little over 4 minutes in that locked state before the link was completed ant the editor returned to normal operation.
I hope this helps, I'm getting better about remembering that I cannot edit in the rendered windows but it still happens when I'm not paying attention. My system OS is windows 10, most current build.
