avast antivirus blocks installation...

I have been using avast antivirus for some years, and I've been particularly happy with it, because there is a free version and it has a boot-time scan, which runs, before Windows actually starts up.

However, recently I have run into some problems with it.

It seems that avast is a little overzealous and puts files in the Virus Chest (into quarantine) that contain no virus.

I upgraded to Website Insight 2.0 yesterday, but avast completely blocks installation of the program, and moves one or two files to the Virus Chest.

Usually avast lets you restore and exclude files from being scanned and thereby run them anyway, but not Website Insight 2.0.

I have of course scanned the files in the Virus Chest and they report -- no virus --, so it's a false positive.

I suggest that Coffeecup contact avast to sort this out immediately here: http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?s … VIRUS-FILE

I have done so for the program that I'm responsible for, and I think that we producers should let them know that here is a serious problem.:(

This isn't support. You might want to open a 'support topic' for this so Coffeecup can look into it. We are users just like you. Just go to your name on the top right of this page and scroll down to 'Your Support Room' to open a topic for support.

I so hate these virus companies! :)

Thanks for letting us know. I have reached out to them so hopefully they will look into this ASAP.

I contacted Avast and this was their response:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting AVAST Software company with your concerns.

avast! does not detects this file with current VPS. Please update your program + virus database and check it again to confirm.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to contact me again.
