Hi Cliff

yes, I did select both "save to your server" and "attach to email". And the first option in my opinion means, that the file should be STORED on the server. But when checking the "files" folder, there's nothing in it.

I don't know, but honestly, I don't trust this software with regards to the "upload file" option. I will test the normal form funtions before going online with it, but I guess I have to look around and find another solution for file upload.

When I was trying to get this software working, I found out is was as simple has having (or not having) a "/" in front of the directory for the upload. Once I changed that, everything worked like a charm. you can find that in your upload section for default starting host folder or something like that.
When you use the built in upload feature, it sets the permissions on your server for the folders. This sounds like a permissions issue. Did you use a different ftp program to upload your files? This could be why the "files" folder does not exist, or why files won't be written to a folder, because the permissions are set too low.

Don't give up yet. There are not many softwares that can do what you want, and coding it by hand can be just as tricky, and a lot harder.

I had a similar situation where I was getting form results with no attachments. What I finally discovered was that the "files" directory on my server was created with inherited permissions that are NOT "web writable". Once I changed the permissions on the "files" folder, everything worked as it should. I realize this is not a software related issue and as Cliff Main pointed out, it's a permissions issue. Hopefully this helps anyone else who may be having issues with Form Builder 8.

Hi

My form files are in my site's root folder and have set the read write permissions but can still not receive the attachment.

Does the type of server selection has anything to do with this?

Mario,

Did you setup your form to accept the type file ou are uploading?

Did you direct that the file be saved to the server, or attached to an email?

Depending on the answers to these and maybe other questions, it is possible that your host has something that may interfere with your upload attempt.

Can you provide a link to the form so that others can help you test this and get it working?

i have had exactly the same drama(s) listed above...

ie no attached file within the email

changing the permissions to the "files" folder did the trick for me

this info should be up front somewhere

cheers

and, following up with this, i then put everything back into a sub-folder and that works, so the idea of putting it all back into the root folder is not entirely necessary

looks like a permission thang with the "files" folder

I wanted to reanimate this thread because I'm having the exact same problem. My form is at http://www.insurancelink.com/contractorswc.html

My host is Godaddy and I'm the least tecnical person you know. Your grandmother would run laps around me in a tech decathlon.

I had some problems originally getting the email to send at all, but figured that out. It now looks great, sends the email great, send the auto-response to the user great but won't attach the file (despite looking like it's doing the work with the "uploadometer" when one hits "submit").

I've tried PDF's and TXT's. Nothing works.

Now, there was a reference to another help topic in this thread but that link is dead and I found no other such topics with the search function. I have clicked both "Attach to email" and "save to server" but I don't know what you guys mean by the "files" folder, none was created when I transferred the files to my host's server. For kicks I created a directory called "files" on the same level as my form but that accomplished nothing.

No rush on answers here. Boy, I really love this product. It makes very nice looking forms and I'm thrilled at the prospect of being able to have users upload documents to me. I really thought that kind of thing was out of my reach tecnically. Very nice. Well...it will be.

Hi jmulligan,
well I think you can change your permission for the files folder you made in your control panels file manager kinda like this.http://www.kellyinfo.com/web/pmissions.avi
but usually the form makes that folder for you. Are you on a windows server?

Okay...I figured it out. I'll be darned creating that "files" directory actually did work. I just didn't know about having to change the permissions. Okay, I didn't really know what permissions were. Happy?

Anyway, I dug around GoDaddy and found a "file manager" thing in my hosting account tools and there was the "permissions" thing above it.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
