Viewing URL problems - Post ID 139620
I am using Windows 7 & IE 8, but I never had this problem with Windows XP (& IE8).
I have a website called 'www.vetts.org.uk', in which I have a number of folders.
One of them is '2008-9', which I can view in IE8, by entering the url 'www.vetts.org.uk/2008-9'. In that last folder, I have added another folder '2008-9a'. Hence, by viewing the url 'www.vetts.org.uk/2008-9/2008-09a'', I would expect to see the items in '2008-9a', but I get the attached error message - any idea why?

Hiya John,
I think you forgot to attach the error message hehe. Also, do you have an index.html file in those folders that is to be viewed or are you trying to just see the list of files in those folders? That makes a difference also, as well as needing to make sure the folders have read permissions setup correctly. I am seeing the error that you're talking about, and according to that error, that folder or page does not exist. Double check that file tree to make sure that's exactly how it's laid out for the pathway.

The attachment was too large, but never mind as you have seen the error message.
I just trying to see a list of files, it might be a 'Read Permission' problem, as I had this problem with all my files on this Window 7 PC.
I have a lot of files in 'www.vetts.org.uk/2009-10' and 'www.vetts.org.uk/2010-11', which I have just uploaded as folders, so maybe I need to check the permissions on those folders first, before uploading.
So the problem is probably my end, rather than the ISP.

I have now solved this problem - Thanks.
It was a file permissions problem - the folder had '771' set (don't know how), it should have been '775', now amended & works ok.
NB.
'7' =. 'Read, Write & Execute'
'1' => 'Execute Only'.

Awesome John, glad you got it all set to go and working, good job!
