Uploading to Server - error message -...

So I finished designing my site and I went to publish everything to the server (godaddy is the host). Everything goes smoothly except when I get to a large pdf document that I link to in my site - it's about 4.5 MB in size. The system seems to lock up and I get the following error message:

1.) Check you firewalls....blah, blah, blah.
2.) Passive mode....blah, blah, blah.
3.) Check your information....blah, blah, blah.

I did what the message suggested, and I spoke with godaddy to see if they have a file size limit - which they don't. If I remove the large PDF from my site, everything is uploaded smoothly. I REALLY want to keep the pdf, so if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I have smaller pdfs included in my site. When I published the site, I was unable to open the documents. I linked to them properly and added the files to the system prior to publishing. Is there something else I need to do? I would get a standard 404 error message when I tried to open them.

Again, any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Do your pdf's have spaces in the file name? If they do, you need to remove those. It can cause the issues you are describing.

no spaces - I followed your prior post where you say to use only letters and numbers. I also did not use any caps....in case that makes a difference.

I just ran a test to my Godaddy account and included a 10mb PDF and I didn't have any issues here. It could be that your connection is timing out on a larger file. What you could do as a test is publish to S-Drive and see if that works. If it does, then we know it is something between your computer and Godaddy. If it fails, then we can look to see if it is a VSD issue.

1. First, you need to create your S-Drive Account

2. Go to Publish > CoffeeCup Account Settings and enter in your CoffeeCup account information

3. Go to Publish > Choose a Publishing Destination and select your S-Drive account

4. Click Publish

I was never able to publish the large files, so I removed them from my coffee cup site, uploaded them individually to the godaddy FTP file manager, and linked to them using the new URL instead of the document link. Everything is up and running now.
