Hello. Thank you for your time. I am an older person, took ancient programming languages like Fortran, and Pascal. Recently purchased a few websites, and have another person running them. I had him give me a "play page" to mess around with. I puchased the completed coffee cupsoftware (every program they sell). I have only figured out the html editor so far.
Can anyone tell me the next one I should try to learn? Hints or strategies for learning, would be appreciated.

Well, you are off to a good start. The html editor is a great tool. Once you understand html, I'd suggest looking up something called Cascading Style Sheets, or .css for short. It works with your html files to sort out things that you would consider "style" your web page. The style sheet can control the fonts, colours, paragraph, images, positioning and all sorts of stuff and can all be written and changed using the html editor (not in visual mode)

If you want to add something fancy to your site with no or little programming knowledge at all, I'd also suggest the form builder for a contact form, and the photo gallery to create a flash animated slide show. These are fairly easy to use and create great results.

Good luck, and I'm sure the opinion of others will vary from mine. Either way, you have a great selection of software to help you get started.

www.mainsites.ca is my website, and yes, some of it is crappy.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
