Hello,
I have downloaded the new CoffeeCup Direct FTP.
Would it be possible to tell me how I set it up, so that at runtime it starts in a specific folder on my hard drive, displaying the folder content.
No matter what I do, CoffeeCup FTP always opens up in a directory I would rather change to something else.
I do not want bookmarks or anything like that, just a startup directory I can specify
Thankyou
Peter

Hiya Peter,
I don't believe that it has that option but... don't lose faith, there are a couple options that could help alleviate a bit of the frustration.
Have you tried saving bookmarks? I find I use them constantly. I have a number of different servers I connect to so I have them connect directly to the server files and the local files for that site. But I don't always want the local files to be for that site, I may want to see my own images or my downloads folder or my desktop where I saved some things to upload or where I might want to download something to. So I create a lot of Bookmarks.
It's very easy to do also, on the local side of the program just open the directory you want to bookmark. At the top of the window you'll see the Bookmarks button, just click it, choose the Local setting, then enter a name in the Box it pops up that you will know when you see it on the list.
When you want to change to different bookmarks use the Menu at the top that says Bookmarks, click it and choose the bookmark you want to go to and it will load it in the window. You can do this for local and server side so it's pretty handy and makes swapping directories a snap.
You can also setup your program to start the last server entered, or have it load a blank slate (not connect to any server) at start up (then use a bookmark to get to your wanted folder). If you have only one site you work on this would help to then set the default local folder of that site to the default folder you would like to load at start up. Then just have the site's folder setup as a bookmark so you can go back and forth.
Hope some of this helps and hollar if you need more assistance or ideas

Hi Jo Ann,
I hope all is well with you, I havent been here for a while now.
Thankyou for the advice, I have setup the web server and directory that I want to start in, and all is fine, but
not the directory on my hard drive.
It just seems daft that there isn't an option to do that, all my html files are slung from one directory and
its nice and clean that way.
The FTP opens in a directory thats nothing to do with either my html files or CoffeeCup, its always the same directory, so the FTP must have it stored somewhere, if I can find where maybe I can edit it.
I will try the properties of FTP and see if there's a startup point there.
Maybe I am lazy, but having to navigate the hard drive to a startup point every time i load the program..... is a bit of a pain!
Thanks again for your help

You can do that under your preferences. Just specify the local folder path for each FTP profile.

Thankyou, found it under My Servers > More options.
The FTP now opens where I want it to on my pc, but only after connection to the remote site.
Maybe thats what i was doing wrong, as it doesnt display the local directory until I connect to the internet...

Correct. That is how it works. There is no preference to just start in a folder on the local side without first being connected to the server. Just auto connect to the server and it will change to this directory for you.
