Hello! I am using sitebuilder from Yahoo and I want to autosize my page to fit different screes. My software is visual and will not let me enter by percentage and only by pix. I can add separate html code but i cannot access the website htmil code (not sure how here). I have been using coffee cup software by adding html code into my visual page to do gallery.

Help!

Thanks!

Hi Doxie,

I used Sitebuilder also, and have recently begun to re-do my site with the Coffee Cup Vis. Site Designer, instead of trying to turn Sitebuilder into something it isn't. The CC programs allow for much more flexibility, you can build your pages anyway you want in the HTML Editor. The other thing to keep in mind is that sites built with Yahoo Sitebuilder are displayed in "quirks mode" because they don't have a DOCTYPE the browser can identify. So your site will look OK on some browsers and be messed up on others. I just looked at the two sites I've made with Sitebuilder on a computer running Linux-Ubuntu... not a pretty picture! They look fine in Firefox and IE on a Windows machine, needed some tweaking in Chrome and Opera, but they were all messed up in Firefox on the Linux computer. It might seem like a pain in the *** to re-do your site, but Sitebuilder isn't keeping up with the times, so eventually you'll have to rebuild it anyway :(.
You might want to try out the CC HTML Editor (get the free trial). The VSD is great, very easy to use, but the pages are fixed width - Maybe someone else here knows if it's possible to change that; either in the VSD (add HTML), or by editing a VSD site in the HTML Editor.
Sorry I don't have a solution to make it work in Sitebuilder, but good luck with it, whatever you decide to do :) !

I think you will need to use the HTML Editor to do what you are trying to do.

Keep in mind that screens are getting VERY wide, and if your site is spread out over a single column that is 1440 or large even, it may be dificult to read as you move your eyes back to the start of the next line.

If you are just wanting to have a background that fills the area on both sides of your content, you can do that with a little CSS and maybe a small graphic.

If you tell us more detail on what you want to accomplish, someone is very likely to know an answer.

Do you have access to FTP for your website?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
